Upon the special request of @StephanieFerguson156 here is an extra chapter for you guys this week.

Don't forget to leave me writing prompts or scenarios for any character in the entire series that you want me to write about! I will be compiling a bunch of them and putting them in a book once they're done.

Enjoy!

"Can we stop for snacks?" Carter questioned. "I wanna get one last meal in before it's my turn to drive," she said from the passenger seat of my car.

We were nearly halfway to Tucson and my six-hour driving shift was about to come to an end. I wasn't sure how I felt about Carter taking the night shift, but she assured me that she slept the entire plane ride over and even napped for a few good hours of the drive. On the other hand, I was already beginning to feel my eyes fill with exhaustion and no matter how hard I tried to keep them wide open, they were closing involuntarily, begging me to sleep even though it was barely nine p.m. I hadn't been able to sleep much after Carter's call last night and I had been at the Chophouse early prepping for that fucking hellish bridal shower.

There was no way in hell I'd ever get married, but if by some miracle I did, I would never have a fucking bridal shower.

I swear those things were just an excuse to gather a bunch of women who either secretly hated the bride or were secretly jealous of her, all to try and brag about the fact that she was tying herself down to a man for life.

What a fucking thing to brag about.

"You literally just ate an entire burger, fries a milkshake and the rest of my chicken nuggets less than an hour ago," I stated in exasperation.

For such a small girl, damn she could fucking eat.

I missed the days when my metabolism was that fast.

"Well fucking sue me, I'm snacky already! Plus, I won't wanna eat while I'm driving and then I'm gonna have to park and eat, and then I'm gonna slow us down and then we're not gonna get to—"

"Okay," I relented, holding my hand up at her so that she'd quit rambling.

"Where do you wanna stop?" I asked, letting out a breath

Lighting up with a smile Carter pointed at the sign we were passing. "There's a rest stop at this exit with a 7-Eleven. That'll do," she announced happily.

Rolling my eyes, I fought a chuckle as I switched lanes onto the exit ramp. "I could use a coffee for this last stretch," I admitted.

"See, hydrating and satisfying your belly with good ass food makes everyone happy," Carter teased.

She had a point.

"Speaking of good ass food. When did you start working at Mansfield's?" she questioned, catching me off guard.

We'd managed to go nearly six hours without talking much at all. Carter was in and out of sleep for most of it, or on the phone giving Ronnie updates or with Bucky, telling him how much she missed him already. When they hung up, she told me he was complaining that she was leaving him alone for a few days because he was lonely.

Gag.

When I questioned how things were going with his family, she said she'd rather not talk about it, so I dropped it and we hadn't talked much since.

"I—um, started a few weeks ago," I told her, fumbling over my words.

"How the hell did you get that gig?  Mansfield's is a fancy place and they aren't exactly Tribe friendly."
