~Beatrice~

At the single word, Ava's rigid body slumped in relief, and she tugged Beatrice forward into a feverish kiss. The sister warrior went willingly, trying to block out the thoughts of how much messier this was going to make things between them.

"Bea…closer." The younger woman huffed against her mouth.

Without breaking the embrace, Beatrice climbed onto the bed beside Ava, sliding her hands into the Halo bearer’s hair. The other woman let out a groan as the sister warrior tugged slightly to change the angle of the kiss, pushing her tongue into her mouth.

Beatrice slid a leg between Ava’s, the Halo bearer pulled away from the kiss with a gasp, arching back into the pillow. The taller woman ran the edge of her teeth over Ava's throat, dragging her lips over the sensitive skin at the base of her neck, tasting the salty tang of sweat and tears. Ava began to roll her hips against Beatrice’s thigh, searching for friction.

The sister warrior let her right hand drift lower, trailing down the younger woman’s body before halting at the waistband of Ava’s track pants. She wasn't sure if this was a good idea.

There’s no going back if I do this…

"Please." The younger woman begged.

Beatrice nodded. She couldn't deny the Halo bearer what she needed in that moment. Pushing her hand down, Beatrice felt Ava's hips strain upwards to meet her. The sister warrior set a steady pace, and Ava sighed, chasing the sweet pressure.

When she felt that the Halo bearer was ready, Beatrice dipped two fingers down into her, keeping the base of her palm pressed firmly against the younger woman's sensitive bundle of nerves. Ava cried out, hands flying up to grip the sister warrior’s shoulders, fingernails biting into her skin through the thin cotton t-shirt she was wearing.

She knew Ava's body better than her own now, she knew how to build up the pleasure quickly or slowly, she knew the miniscule triggers that would have the other woman screaming her name or moaning incoherently. Beatrice had studied her so carefully and thoroughly in their short time together.

Positioning the back of her hand against her thigh so she could thrust deeper, Beatrice increased her pace. Ava panted raggedly, eyes opening a sliver to look up at the sister warrior, the golden ring glowing in the darkness.

"Bea. Bea. Bea." Ava repeated her name like a mantra before letting out a choked moan as she reached the edge.

Beatrice lowered her head to kiss the hollow of the Halo bearer’s throat, listening to the low keening sound that broke from Ava’s lips as she climaxed. The sister warrior continued to move her fingers slowly to help the other woman come down from her high before gently pulling out.

Wiping her hand on the sheets to clean her fingers, Beatrice kept her eyes down on Ava's torso, watching it strain with each rapid breath.  She didn't know how to feel about this. She loved Ava, but what Beatrice had just done for her didn't seem right, not with what was going on with their relationship currently.

All of a sudden, she felt the other woman start trembling underneath her. The sister warrior paused her introspection, glancing up. Tears were streaming down Ava's face.

"Ava…" Beatrice whispered, heartbreaking for the younger woman she raised her hand to brush at her cheeks.

She doesn't deserve this.

"I'm sorry. Oh God, I'm so, so sorry, Bea. I shouldn't have said those things... I shouldn't have asked you to do this…you must hate me." The Halo bearer sobbed, bringing her own hands up to cover her face as she cried.

"Hey, it's okay. Just breathe. I'm here. I'm not leaving."

"But…"

"Don't worry about it right now, okay. We'll talk about it in the morning." Beatrice gathered Ava up to her arms, pulling the blanket over both of them.

The younger woman tensed for a moment before slowly relaxing into her, tucking her tear-stained face into Beatrice's neck. The sister warrior caressed the circular scar of the Halo subconsciously, listening to Ava’s breathing beginning to calm.

Just before they drifted off, Beatrice murmured into the Halo bearer’s hair, "I could never hate you, darling, no matter what."

A quiet reply was pressed into her skin beside her collar bone, "I love you."
