~Halo~

Halo watched Beatrice pacing backwards and forwards, the slight limp causing a hitch in her usually smooth gait.

"Tell her to stop, she's going to hurt herself more."

I tried to; she won't listen to me.

"Ask her again."

Halo sighed, as soon as Ava had awakened in their head it had become very apparent that giving her back sovereignty of her body wasn't going to be as easy as they hoped. Neither Halo nor the Bearer knew how to change places, so now Ava was sitting in Halo's usual spot in the back of her head, the observer, the second voice.

"Beatrice, please sit down. Your knee…" Halo tried a second time.

The sister warrior paid them no attention staring into the distance as she reached the wall by the bathroom and turned to start the trek back to the other side of the room once again.

"Tell her I want her too."

Sister Camilla had called shortly after Ava had returned. The conversation between the two women had been short but whatever they had talked about had had a profound effect on the sister warrior. Beatrice had been pacing since she hung up, when Halo asked what was wrong, she had just shaken her head and muttered, ‘they will be here soon’.

"Tell her, Halo…please?"

"Ava wants you to stop, Beatrice."

The sister warrior froze halfway across the room, her back to them. Halo worried that they may have overstepped, Beatrice could be downright terrifying when she wanted to be.

"She can see me?" She whispered, turning slowly, tears forming at the corners of her eyes.

"I wish I could hold her…"

"Of course…she sees everything I see. She hears everything I hear." Halo replied gently, they couldn’t help but feel sorry for the two women.

Beatrice approached the bed, sitting down beside them and rubbing absentmindedly at her sore knee, "Can I…can I talk to her?"

"Yes!"

Halo nodded, "I'll tell you what she says."

The sister warrior bit her lip and glanced away, fidgeting with her hands in her lap as she ordered her thoughts.

Finally, she lifted her head, deep brown eyes boring into golden ringed ones, “Hi, Ava.”

Halo was a little surprised by the simpleness of it, but the more they thought about it, the more it seemed to fit the two of them.

“Hi Bea, long time no see...”

Halo repeated what the Bearer said, watching a smile emerge on Beatrice’s lips.

"How are you doing?"

"I mean, I'd be better if I wasn't a passenger in my own body, but I think physically, I'm all good? What about you, you're okay? What happened to your leg?"

"I'm fine, Ava. I just overextended it at the Brotherhood. It's okay though, just needs time…"

"Don't forget about your head injury!" Halo piped up; Beatrice shot them the quickest glare she could knowing Ava could see what she was doing.
"Oh…sorry, was that a 'between us' thing?" Halo winced; these human nuances were so damn complicated.

"What happened to her head? Say it Halo!"

"Ahh, Ava is asking what happened." Beatrice gave them an exasperated look.
'Sorry', Halo mouthed.
