~Beatrice~

Lilith turned up a few hours after Ava's return, the crack of purple power announcing the winged woman's arrival. Beatrice was pleased to see her, maybe she could shed some light on whatever had caused Ava to be completely out of sorts after her visit to the Cradle. Much to the sister warrior’s annoyance, the younger woman hadn’t been particularly forthcoming about why she was acting so skittish.

“Hey, Lilith.” Beatrice smiled, “It’s good to see you.”

Lilith seemed off as she murmured her own greeting, eyes darting around the small hotel room, lingering for a moment on the closed bathroom door before settling back on Beatrice, “Where’s Ava?”

“She’s in the shower. She should be out soon.” Beatrice frowned as her friend shifted her weight from leg to leg, a muscle jumping in her jaw.

Why does she seem so jittery?

Lilith stayed quiet for long enough that the sister warrior felt like she should say something, "Are you alright?"

"Yes. Why?" The words were sharp, confrontational.

"Oh. Um. You just seem…tense?" Beatrice raised an eyebrow, taken aback by the outburst.

The former sister warrior opened her mouth to reply but was interrupted by Ava, the Halo bearer pushed open the bathroom door and wandered into the room drying the ends of her hair. Beatrice was relieved to see the younger woman was fully clothed, there was nothing Ava loved better than walking out half naked.

"Hey Bea, I was thinking about what we should order for dinner…" Her girlfriend halted herself and the sentence abruptly when she noticed they weren't alone.
"Lilith…you're here."

Beatrice observed a silent exchange between the two women, both beginning to blush under the other's scrutiny. She was suddenly feeling very out of the loop.

What the fuck is going on with these two?

"Ava." Lilith stated formally, "I let Mother Superior know that you're back. She has requested both of you to come to the Cradle. Immediately."

Beatrice pinched her eyebrows together, surprised, "Have the Vatican officials left?"

The winged woman shrugged, "No idea, those were just the orders I had to relay."
"I'll see you later." She finished, glancing awkwardly at Ava once more, before she teleported away.

Beatrice turned to the Halo bearer, noticing her girlfriend was still flushed from the encounter.

"What the hell did you do to Lilith?"

~Ava~

"I don't like this."

Ava sighed. This was the fifth time Bea had expressed her displeasure and to be fair, she herself didn't like the implications of being summoned to the Cradle if the Vatican officials were still lurking around. It could indicate that Mother Superior had failed in her attempt to dissuade the representatives from arresting them.

Ava squeezed the hand entwined with her own, hoping to reassure her girlfriend, "I know, Bea. But orders are orders…"

"Not if they put you in danger." The sister warrior snapped.

Ava tried not to feel hurt by her tone, she knew the taller woman liked to know things, so walking into an unknown situation at the convent was definitely stressing her out. On top of that the Halo bearer knew the sister warrior had to be sore, sitting in the back of a taxi driving along a rough cobblestone lane can't be too comfortable for her injury.
