chapter 15

I sat there stunned. I'm really alone now. Oh no. But she promised she would come back. I'm trying to encourage myself but its clearly not working.

"The girl escaped Doctor," Dr. Jones clarified.

"Well maybe because you let her!" he barked, his face flaming in anger. Woah. This is not the Uncle Kurt I once thought I knew. Okay Aspen. You got out before. Now you just have to figure it out again because I am not letting them take what makes me unique. Instead I should use what makes me unique to my advantage. But first I need answers.

"So what is it about me that makes me so powerful?" I asked Dr. Anderson.

"Why would I tell you that?" I contemplated over my answer. I need to know. Because there has to be a reason why I'm so called dangerous and powerful. It doesn't make sense. All I can do is make things float around.

"Because if you do- I'll let you take some of my blood without rebelling."

"Oh. Dr. Jones that sounds like a pretty good offer don't you think?" he said, smirking. Dr. Jones nodded briskly.

"Well then we better start before you change your mind."

I have a terrible feeling that I'm going to seriously regret this.

Dr. Jones began cleansing the area of my arm where they were going to insert the needle while Dr. Anderson was preparing all the supplies required for the small procedure. I was attempting not to tremble. Dr. Anderson was prepared to insert the needle but-

"Wait. I want all my questions answered first," I said.

"Well if we must because there's no going back on our deal Aspen."

"So answer my question from earlier," I demanded.

"Okay well the reason you're so powerful is because of your Gift-"

"But it's not even extraordinary."

"Because it hasn't been that long since you've received it. If you ever got to the peak of your strength you would probably be able to move planets." My eyes widened. Planets. At that rate, I could dominate the world. Oh okay now I'm sounding like a evil psychopath. I don't even want to dominate the world. Dr. Anderson woke me from my thoughts.

"And nobody should have that much power. Nobody should have any power in fact. And that's why we're putting a stop to it." He jabbed the needle into my arm, took the blood, and that's what knocked some sense into me.

"I can't let you do this," I gasped, "Please. Being a Celestial. Going to Hippoplum. It's changed my life for the better. It makes us special. Don't take that away from us. I understand how you can be scared, but you shouldn't be. Just please don't do this."

All he said was, "Too late pumpkin." He used to call me that as a term of endearment. Now he's just saying it to mock me. To show me how ignorant and naive I've been to who he really was. Suddenly anger burst out of me and every single needle, knife, scissors just anything sharp came rushing at Dr. Anderson and stopped an inch away from his throat. He let out a strangled gasp while Dr. Jones stared dumbfounded.

"Don't do it," I whispered, teeth clenched. I was struggling to keep all the sharp objects still pointed at him. Then through the window of the lab, I saw Hunter and Lynn staring in horror with faces pale as if they had just seen a murderer. If I carried out with what I was doing I would become one. I sighed and let everything fall to the ground with a clatter. Dr. Anderson released a sigh of relief and then smirked.

"What? You couldn't kill your dear old Uncle Kurt," he said.

"Yep. But I know if things were different and I was in your position. You would kill me- because you're cold and heartless and a hypocrite!" I spat. He looked taken aback for a second and then smirked again.

"Well pumpkin, that doesn't change the fact that I'm going to do this, " then he poured the vial of my blood into the boiling tubes of the serum. It began hissing and the room filled with smoke. The last thing I saw before my vision was made up of smoke was Dr. Jones dabbing at his forehead and a flash of red.

A/N: Sorry another short chapter but I had to finish it today because I have little time to write so I could only do bits and pieces.
