The first story Dylan read was of the colonists facing off against the native peoples.
"'A simple woman, meek, seemingly helpless came out of the fog. Her dress blew around her and her hair, as red as blood, moved in the wind. Her voice was soothing and calm.
"'"Please, stop the persecution. My people are innocent."
"'At first, the people backed away, but a young man, Nathaniel Moore, stepped forward.
"'"She is a Hell-demon. Don't let her siren song fool you."'"
Evie's lips fringed, as if she would spit fire at the book.
"'The colonists gathered iron chains, captured the figure. Her skin smoked and the dress changed to tatters. But the colonists weren't prepared for this evil in their Pure and Clean land. Some of the women pricked her with iron nails and sprayed her with holy water while a stake was erected and a pyre built.
"'The little woman grew twenty times in size, her figure shifting into the Red Dragon. She roared at the Pure and Clean colonists. "I tried to be patient with you."
"'She blew fire at all of the houses and burned the village down.'"
