Evie curled around Ren's arm. Her menstrual cycle had stopped as soon as she reached the virgin territories, but at the sound of Ren's heartbeat, her hormones burst into motion. Jo's presence had only made her more irritable.
She massaged her stomach, the feeling of ZangZang in her womb fresh in her mind.
"Am I fertile?" she said.
Ren kissed her shoulder. "No." His lips moved down her back and he licked her spine. "We should wait before we conceive another child."
Evie didn't disagree. The thought of being chained to Ren scared her. But she resented his tone.
"Nianzang will want your undivided attention for many moons." Ren paused before he added, "You and I should be stable before we introduce another child into the world."
Evie shot up. "Don't call me unstable."
"You are not," he lied. "Our relationship is. Children need stability."
Evie burrowed into the blankets. Cold arse, why oh why did she let him in her house?
Ren kissed her again, massaged her. "Mo Bhanrion, is breá liom tú."
Evie shifted back to him, nuzzled into his chest.
"I love you too."
