It was the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and The Depp house was slowly getting back to normal after the chaos of the few days prior where the majority of extended family had descended on the Sweetzer house. Kate had awoken to find that Belle was being occupied by Lily, and Johnny was already awake offering to make breakfast which seemed very unusual but after a busy few days she welcomed it. She decided to take her sweet time getting ready for the day, showering using all her favourite products, actually blow drying her hair into big curly waves and taking her time with her make up. Donning a midi pleated skirt, with a belt round her middle, she teamed it with a thin high neck black body suit, and some subtle jewellery, although they weren't due to be entertaining today for the last week or so the children had insisted that today be marked in the calendar as a family day and that no other plans could be made. Kate finally declared herself ready donning some suede heeled boots and headed down the grand staircase to find the other occupants of the house.
She found Johnny clearing up the kitchen, and she lent up against the doorframe watching him. "Babe I could have done that, especially as you did breakfast." "Nonsense." He turned and smiled "you do it most days and get to work on time, it's the least I could do.... You look amazing." "Thank you." She blushed at the compliment, twirling in her skirt. "It's new." "Well it looks wonderful on you." He stopped what he was doing and stepped towards her. "So what are the family day plans?" She asked. "No idea. Kids are in charge I'm afraid!" He said before kissing her passionately and rushing off.
"I've always loved this place. It's so chic." Katie said smiling across the table, the five were sat in a luxury Italian restaurant at a private table to the back of the premises having lunch. "I know! It's great isn't it! It's perfect for a family lunch," Lily said making Kate smile. Her choice of words not going unnoticed. "Belle!!" Jack chuckled, the toddler had lent from her spot on Johnny's lap and stolen some of his pasta from his plate making the group smirk. "Hey you.. you'll do well to remember Jack doesn't share any of his food." Johnny said in a sickly sweet voice and kissing her cheek softly.
They left the restaurant, and Johnny had kindly offered to carry Belle on his hip to avoid her being trampled by the crowds, and that left Kate and Lily linking arms and giggling about something whilst Jack walked beside his father. "Dad... are we doing ok?" The son asked quietly. "You're doing great son. Not long to go." "I'm excited!" He said before the group climbed into the car to head back to Sweetzer.
"I should change Belle out of that beautiful dress she will only ruin it." Kate said when they arrived home. "NO!!" The three others shouted loudly making Kate jump. "Sorry. I think what we mean is that it's part of the family day we are having isn't it? Besides, she's a kid, if she ruins it I'll get her another." Johnny said. Kate smiled gratefully "You can't just buy her everything." She said chuckling. "I can.. and I will." He said kissing her before running off to his office leaving Kate wondering what was going on.
An hour or two later, Lily had asked Kate to come help her in her bedroom. "Please... I want to curl my hair like yours but it won't stay pinned up." The teen said. Kate smiled and sat the girl down at her dressing table before beginning the long process of using a curling wand. Belle was busy playing on the floor when Johnny knocked "All ok in here?" He asked and the toddler immediately stood "Da da da da!" Running towards him, he was still not used to his new title but he adored it as he scooped her up. "Hey munchkin. You didn't fancy having your hair done no?" He said as he ruffled her curls. "God she will be Lily's age before I know it." Kate said not thinking. "And we'll be old and grey and lonely because the kids will have better social lives than us!" Johnny smirked taking the child out the room. Kate smiled, she was rather touched that Johnny saw them growing old and grey together, they had never really discussed the future other than they both knew they wanted one together.
A good hour later, Kate decided to head to the master bedroom after finishing Lily's hair. The teen was very grateful but soon rushed off leaving the woman to have a few moments alone. It had been a full on few days but she was so happy to be a part of a big family again. She brushed her hair out, sprayed some more perfume and added some more lipstick. For the first time in a while she felt confident today, happy in fact, and wanted to show that off. As she left the master bedroom she noticed the house was very quiet. Strange for early evening but it was a large mansion so she didn't think twice about it. She slowly made her way down the stairs and saw an elaborate bouquet left on the centre table. It was full of white roses and greenery, her favourites. She picked up the card that was sat within it and flipped it over. She recognised Johnny's handwriting.
A rose for every month I've known you. Here's to many many more. All my love always, JD x x
Kate smiled, what a thoughtful gesture. She wondered what she had done to deserve the flowers and set out to find her boyfriend. She headed into the kitchen and found Jack stood there, he had a glass of champagne and Kate soon recognised the bottle as a rosé one she remembered drinking on one of her first dates with Johnny. The younger Depp man was dressed in a well cut suit, and looked very dapper. "Kate... you look beautiful." Jack blushed and smiled. She had a great relationship with the boy, they shared the same humour, but also was one of his closest confidants apart from his parents. She slowly approached him and ruffled his hair. "Thank you sweetie, you look rather dapper yourself. Are you going somewhere?" She asked. "Just a short trip." "A trip?" She asked confused. "A trip down memory Lane." He smirked handing her the glass. Kate's eyes widened. "I love you because you make the best breakfasts, even when you're tired or not feeling well, you always make sure the three of us have the best start to the day. I love how you come down the stairs like you just did, and ruffle my hair, hug Lily and kiss Belle's head." Kate smiled at his sweetness. "And that as well as many other things, is why I love having you a part of our family." Kate could feel tears in her eyes. "I love you too buddy." She said wrapping her arms round the boy. He pulled back and offered his arm and led her out the kitchen. Jack led them down the hallway to the terrace doors, where Lily was stood, looking beautiful as always. The two Depp children led the woman out to the garden, where the lights were on, and a few extra fairy lights had been added. "Lily?" Kate questioned and the teenager took a deep breath. "I love how you throw yourself into the pool.. and everything else." This made them all giggle. "You are always there for us, even if you're trying to have five minutes peace laying in the sun, you'll always be worrying about us or Daddy, and for that we will always be grateful, and that is why I love having you a part of our family." Kate placed her hand over her heart and hugged Lily before pulling Jack into it too. "Talking of your father where is he?" Kate asked confused. "I also love how you don't miss a trick." Lily giggled as the two children led Kate back into the house.
They arrived at the living room that had been transformed with fresh flower bouquets, the scents of the roses filled the whole room and candle light provided a romantic glow. Johnny was crouched down in front of the fire, and whispering to Belle. He was making her chuckle and stroking her cheek. The now three year old was throwing her head back and belly laughing loudly which in turn made Johnny chuckle, it was a beautiful sight between a father and daughter if you didn't know any wiser.
