"So uh, what are you?" I asked. Jason smiled warily at me and shook his head like he was arguing with himself and losing. "You should be able to tell. I certainly know what you are." I should be able to tell what he is? Hah! I don't know. Maybe if I go through all the facts. "Are you uh, a vampire?" I asked staring straight at the stars. They really are lovely tonight. Jason chuckled from beside me and my head snapped in his direction. He quickly regained his composure. "No Avalon, I am not a vampire. Guess again." This time Jason crossed his legs and sat his hands down glancing at the sky every now and then. Ok, so he is not a vampire? No. So what the heck is he? He doesn't look like a fairy or a pixie. I busted out laughing at the thought of seeing Jason with tiny pixie wings. Jason raised an eyebrow at my outburst of laughter but I just waved it off and kept thinking. A werewolf? "A werewolf?" I said voicing my thoughts. I honestly have no idea why I said that. It was almost like something was compelling me to. Jason gave me a toothy grin and I giggled when he showed, not teeth, but fangs. Not vampire fangs of course, dog fangs. Also yes I did giggle at that fact, see! Nothing really scares me now. Plus, I have no doubt (for some reason?) that Jason would never hurt me. "Tell me what you think I am." It was more like a demand but I wasn't saying it in a mean way so...yeah. Jason smirked at me and slunk against the tree trunk. "I believe dear Avalon, that you are a vampire." He tried to feign a British accent but failed horribly. What is with people and British accents now a days? I'm actually good at it so I don't count. "Yes I am." I said then I threw my head back to look at the stars that were fading along the line. A feeling of dread sank in as I realised night was almost over and I never came home last night. "Oh crap." Sighing I jumped from the eleven feet it took to fall, and looked up at Jason who was giving me a sad expression. Why? Heck if I knew. But he is nice, therefore I like him. "Where are you going?" He asked after jumping down, landing right beside me. My stomach growled just as soon as my mouth opened and I grinned. "Well I was going home since I never came back last night. But I guess I am going hunting now. You should go home too, your parents are probably missing you." I shot out. After a quick wave and a smile goodbye, I shot into the woods and started my built in radar. A huge dot overwhelmed my tracks and instantly I ran for it. Weird. It's in the same direction I just left. Suddenly I came into a clearing and just stood there. Golden eyes shone clearly through a few bushes and I smiled knowing that I was about to get me a meal that would satisfy me for the whole day. As quietly as I could i stalked behind the huge thing was about to sink my fangs into its furry doglike neck when he spun around fast and pinned me to the ground before I could react. Screaming I cover my hands with my face and shoved him off of me. "Geez Avalon. Calm down its just me. You know? Jason? The guy you met in that tree?" Jason joked and I let out a breath of relief. "Gosh you about gave me a heart attack here!" I giggled and sat down on the wet ground. Immediately jumping up I squeal and wipe off my now wet bum. Jason apparently thought that it was hilarious and fell to the ground. "Humph. Good to know that you think that is hilarious. Now I have to come up with an explanation about why I didn't come home. Well I already had to do that but..." Jason was staring at me amusingly and waited for me to continue but I didn't. Instead I was blushing because, wouldn't you know, I was rambling about random things. "Oops. Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble. Ahhh, I was just thinking out loud I guess." He nodded and smiled. "It's okay. Oh and here you go." Jason said turning around to grab something. I was extremely confused because we just met and now he is giving me something? When Jason turned to face me again he held out three small bunnies. They all were dead but I could sense that they all still had their blood. "Thank you Jason. But you do realise that I can hunt by myself. Even if this is my second day." I mumbled the last part more to myself than to Jason but he heard. "What do you mean by your second day?" I looked up to see Jason's face expressionless. Sighing I pet a bunny's head and without looking at Jason I said. "I only turned yesterday morning. This is my second day being a vampire." Jason still remained there like a statue. "Ok. That means that after today...you won't be able to sustain yourself with just animal blood. You know that right?" He asked softening up a little. I blanked. Nothing happened, no speech, no movement, just my thoughts scrambling through my mind. "Avalon? Avalon? Are you okay? I know it's a lot to take but it's true. I just wanted you to know that. Avalon, come on." Jason held out his hand for me to take but I still couldn't move. All I could do was stare glassily at the sky. The lovely lovely sky.

Jason's POV

I am such am idiot. Why did I tell her that? Her parents would have eventually told her. Not some stranger she just met in the woods! But the thing is... I am no stranger. I sighed and rubbed my temples with my fingers ignoring the fact that I probably seemed like my mother at the moment. Crud. Avalon was really beginning to scare me now. She wasn't moving, talking, or even breathing! Well I take that last one back, she wouldn't ever breath again anyways. The next thing I know, I am picking Avalon up and carrying her along the trail where her scent is the most prominent. "Don't let my mum see us. She doesn't know." I jumped at the sound of Avalon's voice and smiled knowing that she would be okay. Avalon gave me a weak smile and I realised that she never did eat. The bunnies were laying flat across her stomach but she didn't touch them. "Eat or you will hurt yourself." Hopefully I sounded strong because at the moment, I really wasn't. Avalon nodded and shakily grabbed one rabbit and drinking it then did that to the other two before making me put the carcasses down carefully. Her eyes slowly closed and she went to sleep. After today she would also never sleep again, or at least, never have to sleep again. The change is only complete after three days, this is only her second.

Avalon's POV

"Avalon Angel Moore! It's 12:45 pm and your not at school! Maybe if you had come home last night you wouldn't be so tired!" I groaned into my pillow and shooed her away with the hand that wasn't clutching my pillow into my face. High heels went clomping angrily through the hall but left me alone afterwards. Memories of last night came flooding back and I found myself in tears worst than I have ever cried. These tears were of regret, regret of what I would have to do after today. The only good memory of last night was of Jason, my new found tree climbing, werewolf friend. Groaning and rubbing my eyes I throw the covers off of me and change into some new clothes, take a shower, do my hair, brush my teeth, and do what I did yesterday. I walked out of the house, except this time, to just go see Jason.

Already I have been sitting under this tree for thirty minutes and he hasn't shown up. Maybe he didn't know I was going to show up again. Probably. I was pretty stunned. "Jason! Come here boy! Come here!" I said playfully. "Heehee. I sound like I'm playing with a puppy, not a werewolf." There was a rustling sound from behind me but when I turned around Jason was no where to be found.
