Maybe if my heart stopped beating it wouldn’t hurt so much. My heart was broken, I’d cried for continuous hours and I’d given up on love… but all I did was love him. How could I have been so stupid? He hadn’t changed one bit. He was the same old pathetic, cheating, horrible jerk! And I’d fallen for his dumb charms. Believing that he’d changed.

I watched as she cried for hours on end. Knowing there was nothing I could say to make her feel better, having been there myself. I wished that there was something I could have said to make all the bad stuff go away and make her happy again. It hurt me so much to see her so sad.
I was sitting next to her on the sofa when there was a knock at the door.
"I’ll get it." I told her and went to the door. I opened it to find none other than Zach standing there, a guilty look on his face.
"Is Holly home?" he asked me.
"Maybe, maybe not. What’s it to you?" I said.
"I really need to talk to her." He said.
"Tough. She doesn’t want to talk to you." I told him.
(Zach’s P.O.V)
"Please Izzy. I have to explain what happened. It’s not what she thinks." I tried again.
"No way! After what you done to her, you shouldn’t be allowed to think about her, let alone see her and talk to her!" she said.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" I heard Holly shout, standing behind Izzy.
"Holly, please…" I began, but Holly didn’t let me finish.
"No, go away! You lying, cheating jerk! Get the heck away from me! I never want to see you again!" she yelled then slammed the door in my face. Then I heard someone crying.
"And don’t come back!" I heard Izzy say in the place of Holly because Holly was crying too much. Damn. How am I supposed to tell her what really happened when she wont even hear me out?
(Holly’s P.O.V)
Nearly a week later, Izzy and I were looking for a job. We were at the city, going in shops and asking if they had any jobs going. We were going to go to college in a few months, but we still needed jobs.
"Look, there’s a job going in the bookstore." I said pointing to a sign outside a bookstore saying ‘Jobs going, no experience needed.’
"Eeeww! There’s no way I’m going to work in a bookstore! I’m going to go and ask in New Look." Izzy said.
"Okay, meet you back here in 5 minutes?" I suggested.
"Yeah, 5 minutes." She said already walking towards the store. So I went to the bookstore. The bell above the door went as I entered. It was a small bookstore, but there were quite a lot of customers inside. I walked straight over to the counter.
"Excuse me?" I said. As he turned around I realised he didn’t look much older than me, maybe 18.
"Yes, can I help you?" he asked.
"Yeah, I saw the sign in the window and I was wondering if I could talk to someone about applying for the job." I said.
"Of course." He said then turned to someone stacking shelves, "Marie?" she turned around, she looked about 30 - give or take a few.
"Yeah?" she asked.
"Could you mind the counter for a minute?" he asked her.
"Sure." She said coming over.
"Okay," he turned back to me "come with me." He said, so I followed him through to a room at the back of the store. He sat at a desk and I sat on the other side.
"Normally my uncle is in charge, but he’s away for a month or two so that leaves me in charge." I nod, "I’m Liam." He said.
"I’m Holly." I smiled
"So have you got your CV?" he asked me.
"Yeah." I said opening my bag. I pulled out my CV and handed it over to him. He flicked through it for a few minutes then turned back to me.
"Okay, you’re hired." He smiled.
"What? That’s it? I’m hired? Just like that?" I asked slightly in shock.
"Yeah, unless you’d rather me give the job to someone else?" he said.
"No, um… thanks." I said, "When do you want me to start?"
"When can you start?" he asked me.
"Whenever." I said.
"How about Monday?"
"sure." I said.
"8am?" he asked.
"Great." I told him. We both got up out of our seats.
"See you on Monday then." He said holding his hand out ready to shake mine.
"Yep, see you on Monday." I said shaking his hand.
A few moments after I got outside I saw Izzy leave New Look, a smile planted on her face.
"Guess who got the last opening in New Look!" she said coming over to me.
"Hmm… was it the best friend of a girl who now officially works in a bookstore opposite New Look?" I asked.
"Ahhh, you got the job?!"
"Yeah, and you got yours?" I asked.
"Yep, I start in two weeks!" she said excitedly.
"And I start on Monday!" I told her.
"No way! Monday, but that’s like two days!" she said.
"I know." I said.
"This is so great!" Izzy grimaced.

I knew my uncle told me not to hire anyone without his approval, but Holly seemed perfect for the job. She was smart according to her CV and she seemed confident and she was attractive so the costomers wouldn’t cringe when they look at her. Which is always a good thing. I was sure she was going to do great working here and what my uncle doesn’t know won’t hurt him.
