Chapter 12

"Huh? You're already awake?" Jack asked as he peeked into (Y/n)'s room, having intended to wake him up. "Oh, good morning Jack, what brings you by?" (Y/n) asked casually, ignoring the confused gaze he received. "Yeah, why are you in our dorm?" Grim asked, sitting up beside (Y/n). It's become common for Grim to sleep next to (Y/n), despite the many times Sukuna has shoved him off.

"I was just... Just going on my morning run! Besides, the Spelldrive Tournament is today, I wanted to make sure you didn't mess everything up by oversleeping" Jack quickly said, lying through his teeth. In truth, he had wanted to catch (Y/n) sleeping soundlessly and be the first person (Y/n) woke up to. But, that plan was quickly foiled when (Y/n) was clearly wide awake.

"That's right! We gotta catch the bad guys so they'll squeeze Ramshackle House into the tournament as a reward!" Grim proclaimed excitedly. "I really doubt the Headmage would allow this dorm to join," (Y/n) mumbled honestly. "Let him dream, then I get the sweet sight of seeing his hopes die," Sukuna called within his vessel's head. (Y/n) let out a sigh as he shook his head.

"Whatever, I'm out of here, I'll see you at the tournament grounds," Jack said as he turned around and headed off. "Uh... Bye?" (Y/n) questioned, with an unsure wave. "What are you doing just standing around? We have to get ready!" Grim demanded as he tried to shove (Y/n) out the door. "Alright, alright, no need to shove!" (Y/n) said as he headed forward, unintentionally following Jack outside.

"Woooaaaah," (Y/n) said in amazement once he stepped onto campus. There were stalls and so many strange people there. Unconsciously, he started to head to a booth, checking out the strange items that were on sale. "Seems like you're enjoying today," Ace said, as he approached (Y/n), gaining his attention. "Hmm?" (Y/n) hummed as he looked up, a piece of jerky, which he just bought, sticking out of his mouth.

"We did all that investigating and we didn't even make the team," Ace complained, as (Y/n) slightly listened as he ordered more food. "I mean, you two didn't really do anything to prove your worth. I don't see why you two are so bent on joining, it's just a game," (Y/n) argued while feeding the mouth, that appeared on the back of his hand, some jerky.

"It is not just a game, this is everything to us!" Deuce exclaimed proudly. "Besides, we should focus on the important job set for us today," he said, earning a nod from (Y/n). While Sukuna simply rolled his eyes, he couldn't believe his vessel was friends with these fools. "Yeah! So quit eating and let's get going! That goes for you too Grim!" Ace demanded as he grabbed Grim.

"Wha- Hey!" Grim complained as he struggled in Ace's grip. "Touch my food and you die" Sukuna hissed warningly, as he noticed Ace was going to yank (Y/n) away from another food stand. "Ugh, fine, just meet us at the tournament when you're done" Ace grumbled as he shuffled away. He didn't want to deal with the curse's wrath today.

"Long live the King!" Ruggie exclaimed as the dorm members cheered, right as (Y/n) hastily stumbled into the area. There, Riddle, Deuce, Ace, Jack, and Grim were waiting for him. "You... You guys are monsters, causing a flash mob and hurting innocent people!" (Y/n) said as he pushed past Riddle and glared at the Savanaclaw dorm members.

Ruggie and Leona jolted in shock, they'd never seen him so angry before. (Y/n)'s glare practically sent shivers down their spine. "Ah... Little lemur turned leopard is mad at us," Ruggie mumbled with a slight frown. "Not only that, there's the Heartslabyul kids and... Is that Jack?" Leona asked as he turned his attention to his trusted colleague.

"You transferred to Heartslabyul on us, frosh?" He asked, now frowning too. "No, I just don't feel like celebrating the underhanded accomplishments of a bunch of cowards" Jack hissed with crossed arms. "You filthy traitor" Leona growled, angered by the insult and rebellion. "No, he's doing the right thing! Hurting people to get what you want is not something you do!" (Y/n) exclaimed, defending Jack.
