You kicked off your shoes and threw your bag on the desk, taking a deep breath to relax, again wondering how your moral compass could have become so twisted since you'd gotten to know the spiders. The stealing was fine, you thought, you didn't mind that. It was even exhilarating, like today with Machi and Phinks when you had checked out the new museum exhibition, the one with the priceless Egyptian artifacts. The three of you'd had lots of fun, and the other two had come up with a brilliant plan for what they wanted to steal and how.
Remembering that first time Fei had taken you with him you smiled, you had loved every second of that evening. As always when you thought about him your smile grew wider. Almost from the beginning, it had been obvious that normal rules or even common sense did not apply to your feelings for him. No matter what you'd heard about him, or what you'd seen him do, your trust in him had never wavered, and neither had your love. You loved all of him, even his sadistic side. When it came to Feitan you knew that you were greedy.
You knew you wanted all of him. Needed all of him. Loved all of him. All.
Of all the things the Phantom Troupe did, it was the mindless killing that bothered you the most, the taking of thousands of lives for no real reason. The image of the chain-user's face rose in your mind, the pain their actions had left behind, in him, and so many others. His question sometimes echoed in your mind; Doesn't that make you a monster too? After your meeting with Kurapika you had asked Machi about the scarlet eyes, and why they had killed the entire tribe, or, as it turned out, the entire tribe except for one.
'Danchou thought they were pretty, and they sold for a ridiculous amount of money,' she had answered, shrugging, clearly puzzled about why this would bother you.
Well, a shower should make you feel better, hot water was a solution to almost everything you thought as you started pulling your top off.
'It seems you make Feitan very happy.'
What the hell?
Aura flaring, you spun around. Standing right behind you was the most handsome man you had ever seen, and though you had never met him before there was no doubt as to his identity. Chrollo Lucilfer had arrived at last.
Mouth half open, you stared at him, your fingers still clutching the hem of your top, ready to pull it over your head. Even though he was right in front of your eyes you couldn't sense his presence at all, his zetsu was perfect. You supposed you should be grateful that he had chosen to speak before you were half naked, but now that the initial shock was wearing off you started to feel angry. Why the hell was he lying in wait for you, hiding in your room instead of knocking like a normal person?
'What are you doing in here?' you asked surly, crossing your arms in front of you, trying to ignore the part of you that found his presence strangely enthralling.
Your eyes moved from the tattooed cross on his forehead, down to his eyes. They were a beautiful dove gray, not unlike Feitan's but softer. But where you'd always seen a kind of blunt, cold honesty in Feitan's eyes, Chrollo's hinted only at deceit and pretty lies.
'Oh, I thought it would only be polite to introduce myself before things get out of hand tonight,' Chrollo said, his voice was smooth and alluring, yet there was something cold and distant about him, 'The others have told me quite a bit about you, and your talents and I wanted to meet you.'
'Really?' you asked, not able to tear your eyes from his face, in spite of his ethereal beauty, there was something dangerous about him, something cruel, and you could feel the old panic starting to rise inside you...perhaps you were more broken than you'd thought, even after Hisoka and Fei... Dammit, this was so not the time for this.
