Link landed on a stoned pathway, and the three Sages followed. They all took a moment to adjust to their new surroundings in the Depths. A pillar with some sort of brightbloom lit up a small area. Lava from beneath Death Mountain could be seen from afar. Gloom occasionally pulsed, showing where it resided amongst the ground and cliffs. What piqued Link's interest was seeing groups of blue balls of light leading to a lightroot a bit of ways ahead. He had seen them all over the place when helping Yunobo with the Fire Temple. Yet around there, their presence seemed to be sporadic. Here they seemed almost strategically placed, almost like a path.
"What are those?" Tulin asked, gesturing towards the balls of light.
"I'm not sure," Link replied, "but when you walk past them, they always have some sort of wispy tone to them—if that makes any sense. Some strange creatures, I guess. They're harmless though, don't worry."
The king began to lead the Sages onward. They travelled blindly, following the path that the lights seemed to make. They eventually came to a threshold of trees, and they were surprised to see a Korok flying with a leaf.
The little Korok gasped. "People?! What are you doing down here?"
"We can ask you the same thing," Yunobo chuckled. "We're trying to reach Korok Forest, but we couldn't because of the black fog on the surface. We figured that we could find a way in down here."
"Hey, that's exactly what me and my friends are doing! I'm Mokka, by the way. We haven't been able to contact those stuck in the forest ever since it got corrupted. I hope they're okay."
"Do you have any clue on how we could reach Korok Forest?" Link asked.
Mokka nodded. "I forgot what my friends found, but it has something to do with the center. If you look up at the ceiling, you can see the fog that usually protects the forest. If you get to the center, you'll should be right under it, I think!"
"That's great!" Tulin cheered. "This shouldn't take long at all then!"
"But be careful! A bunch of red meanies have taken over the area in both the Depths and the surface! My friends almost got killed!"
Riju snarled, "The Yiga Clan. We'll chase them out of here, don't worry."
"We'll start by activating these lightroots." Link cracked his knuckles. "Once we have light, they won't be able to hide anything."
The plan was simple. The Sages would attempt to take over the Yiga Clan base in the Depths. Meanwhile, Link would hurry over to the light roots and activate them all. When that was achieved, they would continue to fight until all the Yiga were gone. And that's just what they did. The plan was performing perfectly. The blademasters and soldiers were no match for the Sages and King of Hyrule. Yet what they didn't know was the distress signal sent to those above. Among the ones resting on the surface was the Yiga leader himself.
When Kogha got word of the invaders, he immediately grew excited. He jumped down the chasm that resided in the Deku's trunk. He landed on his Zonai mech that he created with the help of Wyatt. It was made using Zonai parts, and it used thousands of zonaite crystals to power it.
Kogha slammed down on a button, fire emitters forming at the suit's hands. The leader maniacally yelled, "FIRE!"
Flames blasted from the emitters. They began to burn the thick and dense wood of the Deku Tree. As Yunobo chased off the last Yiga, the fire amongst the tree grew clear. At first he thought that he caused it, but then he began to see the mechanical suit.
"Guys, we got a problem!" The Fire Sage announced.
Link growled as he saw his old enemy, "Kogha..."
"Link, our meeting is long overdue!" Kogha directed his machine to shove its way threw the weakened wood. "Take a look at this baby!"
