Aadhira

10 Crores for a vase? Who is that person?

That mysterious person straightly took the bidding to crores from lakhs without any hesitation. I tried to look at that person. But because of the dim light settings i couldn't see the person. I turned towards my bhai who is frowning with a serious expression.

"Bhai, who is that person? Does he has too much many to waste? For a flower vase he is raising 10 crores bid. Isn't it too much?" I asked him.

"You're right. Its too much for this vase. Looks like that person is competing with us" bhai said looking at me with a smile.

"But we can't go further. Let's give up, bhai. Its too much" i said while looking at the flower vase which is shinning proudly on the stage.

It would be great if we could buy this flower vase for papa. But the vase is not worth of 10 crores. Even if we raise the bid, the price will only exceed. So its better to give up.

"We are not giving up" bhai said and before i could stop him he raised the card.

"15 crores" he shouted, making my eyes go wide.

"Stupid bhai..." I scolded him and snatched the card from him, making him glare at me.

"30 Crores!" The person again raised the bid, making my eyes go wide in shock.

30 Crores?? Is he serious?

I looked at my bhai with my mouth wide open.

"Give the card to me, Aadhi" bhai said in his stern voice which he rarely used on me.

"Bhai, i know you never accept defeat. But the situation here is different. Just look at the vase. Even though it was made of some special design patterns and ceramics and was owned by some chinese king, but it's work is only to carry flowers which is no difference from the normal flower vases we find in normal shops. We can't waste so much money on something trivial like a flower vase. We should buy something meaningful. Also who knows? What if that flower vase is haunted by that chinese king's ghost. No no no... i can't sleep peacefully if we brought this vase into our house. Let's give up. We should buy something else instead of this" i said looking at my brother. He looked at me like i am some alien.

"You're really stupid. If you don't want it, then okay. But we are not going with an empty hands. Look at the card and tell me which item you want to buy" he said throwing me the card. I sighed and nodded my head at him.

"30 Crores, once! 30 Crores, twice! 30 Crores, thrice! Congratulations, gentleman, you have won the Chinese Celedon and Gilt Vase with a final bid of 30 Crores. Lets give a round of applause for the gentleman who raised the highest bid" the host announced and the crowd erupted in a roar of applause. I felt suspicious when the host didn't reveal the name of the bidder.

"Why the host didn't mention the bidder's name?" I asked looking at bhai.

"Some people don't like to reveal their identity either because of their special identity or they don't like to be in the limelight" bhai said. I nodded my head in understanding.

Soon after another item was displayed on the stage covered with a silk red cloth.

"Ladies and gentlemen, next item is an artpiece generously donated by a renowned Indian artist Ankita Chopra, 'Silent waves'," the host announced while removing the red cloth, revealing a most beautiful breathtaking painting i have ever seen. I gasped looking at the painting in awe.
