Chapter 2

LILITH'S POV

Since I wasn't in NY for the summer I haven't seen the girls for around 3 months

"GUYSSSSSS" I squealed when i saw the girls gathered in the changing room "HII I MISSED YOU"

"OMG ur alive dammit I thought I was about to take your place" Jennifer joked

"Even if I die theres no way that anyone will replace i'll play on my ghost form" I said and started taking off my clothes to put on the workout ones.

"What do you guys think coach is going to announce, any ideas"I asked knowing damn well that we were about to get a new teammate.

All of them shook their heads, I wasn't going to tell them it would ruin the surprise.

At 3pm sharp we were all on the court messing around shooting from half court knowing that when that whistle blew our happiness would be taken away.

And on cue we heard one. We positioned on the half court's white line and she wasn't next to coach but Mr Barnes was here what is he doing?

"So kids,"-Jones starts speaking-,"As I said before I had to announce something and it's going to be a little hard to take in"

As he took a deep breath I glanced at Emily confused about this, Why was he being so dramatic for a new player?

"You know Mr Barnes has been the women's teams physiotherapist for over 30 years" He stopped, We could see some tears swell in his eyes, what is he talking about everyone was dead quiet no one was even breathing at this point.

"And its time for him to step down of this position He is retiring"

There were some gasp's and confused what's , I glanced over at Barnes he looked like he was about to break down but he gave us a reassuring smile

"I also need some help on the bench, last year you guys missed around 15 practice days because I couldn't show up so over the summer I was searching for a physiotherapist and an assistant coach"

As he said this a tall figure started to appear. There she was, standing next to coach you could say she was a little shorter than him she was looking at us with an emotionless expression.

"What?" I said confused.

"Anderson everything okay?" Said coach,Then did i realize that the what was heard by everyone in the room.

"Yeah yeah everything's fine go on" I shook my head.

"As I was saying, This is Alexis Wilson she will be your new physiotherapist and new assistant coach. Before we start come here and say your goodbyes to Barnes"

We went we talked we hugged by the end of the goodbyes everyone was crying for a second I almost forgot about our new physiotherapist she was talking to coach and I was starting like an idiot when i felt a slap on the back of my head.

"Bro WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING" I yelled when I saw Emily behind me.

"You were staring like a fucking creep dumbass, I mean I dont blame you shes a snack nah A whole meal damn" She laughed.

"Technically She's not your teammate sooooooooo" Jenny joined the conversation

"I dont think she's gay" I sighed

"Girl" They said at the same time

"Look at her if she doesn't scream gay hell I'm not even gay and my gaydar is going crazy rn"

"Em I know you're in denial its okay" Jenny said which earned a laugh from me and a slap from Emily

Barnes said his goodbyes and left the gym, He promised us he would come to our games and be our new cheerleader
and we promised him that we would make him the head cheerleader.

Coach took it easy on us today since it was the first day back, When practice was over Alexis came out of her office and joined coach.

"As you all know that I'm your new physiotherapist so I would like that each one of you one by one shows up to my office, I will be asking some questions about your health and will look through your medical record" She spoke for the first time ever, her eyes looking at everyone she looked scary.

"I already miss Barnes" one of the girls said a little louder than she would like.

"What was that?" Alexis asked.

After no one answered Alexis continued "we will be starting in an alphabetical order in a few minutes I will call you one by one.."

She left and went inside her office, Emily had a smirk on her face as she was approaching me.

"What do you want" I said acting annoyed.

"Ding Ding Ding we have a winner."

"What?" I looked at her.

"Well guess who actually really like really needs a physiotherapist because her back is fucked but I don't know if she will make it worse or fix it" she winked at me.

"Oh shut up as if anything will happen between us" I rolled my eyes.

"I don't know about that but do you know what I know?"

"Uh? No?" I answered.

"I know that she will be having us in her office in alphabetical order and you know whose last name starts with A?"

And like she could see into the future Alexis stuck her head out of her office and called me in.

I looked at Em for one last time and I left

I opened the door and went inside as soon as I stepped foot she opened her mouth

"Haven't your parents taught you any manners??"

"Excuse me?" I asked confused

"You didn't knock" she said while reading some paper she was holding.

Is she for real right now? "Well I thought you were expecting me because you just asked for me? What was the point" I said as I rolled my eyes.

"You know that rolling your eyes at elders is disrespectful yeah?"

"Oh for fucks sake you're acting like your 50 or something"

"First of all watch your mouth second I'm still your coach respect will be needed are we clear?" She looked up and I nodded

"Have a seat" she added

By the time I was on the chair she had gotten rid of the documents on her hand.

"I was reading your medical report and I saw that you have scoliosis is that correct?"

"Yeah"

"Does your back hurt and if it does rate the pain from 1-10." She asked.

"I would say a 1.5 or max 2"I lied, well the pain isn't unbearable I can take it if I was to see a physiotherapist I would have to take half a year off basketball and I cannot afford that I'm here on a scholarship coz of basketball if I can't play I'm out.

"I don't like liars Anderson." She looked at me.

"What?"

"This X-ray is recent right?" I nod "How recent to be exact?"

"Last week recent" I answered.

"By the looks of it I can see that the scoliosis is around 20°, therefore there is no way that the pain is that low."

And here I thought I was a good liar.

"How many times have you been in here."

"Like 4 times at most."

"And what exactly did you do with Mr Barnes in here Anderson."

"I uh never told him about the scoliosis coach doesn't either" she sighed and said "Okay come with me get inside the room."

I sat on the bed waiting for her it didn't take long she came close towering over me and said.

"Take off your shirt"
