Chapter 23

LILITH'S POV

"What's taking her so long. I'm so tired." I whispered to myself. My eyes are tired, I don't know how long they're going to stay awake for.

Honestly all I could think about was her calling me baby. I wasn't sure if I had heard it right or it was the fever hallucinations but from her reaction she definitely said it and all I could do was smile.

My thoughts were interrupted by the opening of the door.

"Good you're not asleep." Alex said.

The doctor walked in with Alexis. "Damn she's very pretty" I thought.

"Lilith this is my friend Bella, Bella this is Lilith." Alex introduced us.

I saw Bella smirk as she came to shake my hand. "So this is the friend you told me about."

I raised an eyebrow at the word friends. Did she really tell her that we were really just friends.

She stuck her hand out. I grabbed it and shook it.

"You're really burning." She said.

"Yeah this is the 100th time someone has told me that." I said glaring at Alex which earned a smile.

"You afraid of needles?" She asked as she grabbed her bag.

"No." I said.

"Okay good, because your friend here is terrified of them." Bella said.

"Hey that's not true." Alexis immediately jumped in.

"It's okay Alex, your secret is safe with me." I said laughing.

"The room hasn't changed a bit since the last time I was here Alexis." Bella said and Alex glared at her.

I looked at her weird, is she her ex or something? Why would she ask her ex to come here what is this.

"So I'm going to inject this shot. It has one of the best medicines for high temperature. It's going to burn a little." She said.

I felt Alexis gently grab my arm. I shook her hand off. "I'm okay." I said.

I'm not mad, just a little confused. Who would invite their ex to give a shot to a potential girlfriend?

She put the syringe in my arm and took it off after the shot was fully in my veins.

I hissed from the burning sensation.

"You okay?" Alexis asked.

"Yeah I'm fine." I said.

"So it will take about 20 minutes to start working. You're going to sweat a lot so get some clothes ready and eat some food." Bella said.

"Thanks Bella, I'll show you the way out." Alex said getting up from the bed and walking out with her after we said our goodbyes.

Such a tiring and annoying day. I just want to go home now and stay in my bed and sleep.

"So what do you want to eat?" Alexis asked as soon as she walked inside.

"Nothing, I'm not hungry." I said.

"You haven't eaten all day." She said.

"I'm not hungry." I said once again. Well I was a little hungry but I was also a little mad at her.

"Bella is my friend." She said.

"So am I apparently." I whispered.

"What did you say?" She asked.
