Trigger warning, the following chapter includes gore and may paint a detailed notion of that scene.

After about 2 hours after our arrival in Canada, things have gone to shit. Kai and the others are in my hospital room, by my bedside, watching the news that reports a thunderstorm brewing red skies in Scotland and making its way to the United States.

"We still have no idea of what's causing this phenomenon but we urge citizens to take shelter and prepare for the impact of this unpredictable storm," The reporter reads.

"Well, the good news is, the herd of demons hasn't reached the city yet, or else they'd be talking about it. Bad news, we have no idea of how to stop them," Armani says, "They wouldn't need stopping if I'd taken the time to think everything Analia said through," I say. "Come on, Ava, you can't take the fall for this," Kai says, "But I'm the one who triggered the trap,".

"And I'm the one who suggested this plan so I deserve as much blame as anyone,", "Yeah but still -". "But nothing, she tricked all of us so each of us deserves a slice of the blame cake," Leslie says, "Exactly, we should be focusing on getting this situated," Marcy speaks.

"Which starts with me getting us home," I said, wincing in pain as I sat up. I'm worried that my shoulder brace and injury might interfere with my ability to take us home because we could end up in the wrong place when I teleport us, but that's a risk I'm willing to take cause with those demons on their way to us, V needs us to protect her now more than ever.

"No, you had a piece of wood lodged in your shoulder for Christ's sake, at least rest for another hour, " Kai suggests, "We should talk about something else,". "Like what?" I ask, "Maybe about your studies?".

"Studies? about what?" Armani asks, "About the law, I'm thinking of going in that direction once this is all over," I reveal. "Wow, that's amazing, why didn't anyone tell me?" Marcy expresses, "I just found out myself, and It's not like we're the only ones keeping secrets," Kai says looking at Luke who's been awfully quiet since we got here. As a matter of fact, I don't think he's said another since we were out on the streets.

"Well, I didn't know. Luke, did you?" Armani questions, we all remain quiet, waiting for him to answer but he doesn't. Luke keeps staring at the ground for another 30 seconds before getting up and saying, "Give me a minute," and then walking out. "Damn, what's his problem?", "None of our business since he doesn't wanna share," Kai replies. "You think I should go and talk to him?" Leslie asks, " I honestly don't know, but if I were you I -" Luke suddenly returns to the room.

"Hey, you, I was just gonna come ch -", Luke cuts off Leslie's sentence by shushing her. He positions himself in front of her and takes both her hands into his, "No one says anything until I'm done saying what I gotta say," He requests.

"Leslie, ever since Kai entrusted me with his home, you, and primarily his couch for some reason I still don't understand after 6 years, I've been bewitched by your everything. Your carefree attitude, personality, that gorgeous face" — He smiles — " Ability to make me laugh in the most dire situations, and your loyalty to us. And I'm not a religious man but a while back I came across a scripture, Proverbs 3:15.  'And she is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her,', and ever since then I have wondered why. But now I see that those 14 words precisely describe the thoughts and feelings I get when I'm in the same room as you, you're my constant reminder of that verse," He conveys. Realizing what's going down, Leslie pulls back one of her hands and places it over her mouth on the verge of tears. "Mhut aiw ou slewing" She mumbles behind her hand in a high-pitched tone, the one you'd get when you're about to cry.
