07 - 'Suading the Media

Three Days Later at L-Corp

The past few days, Alex, Lena, and Brainy worked on the nanotech to help Supergirl. Brainy had to steal some tech from the D.E.O due to L-Corp lacking certain equipment they needed, but thanks to being the level-12 intellect that he is, it was very easy to cover his tracks. And the fact that Colonel Haley was on their side for now. Her help in getting him the technology made it incredibly easy. An order from the Colonel went unquestioned.

Before Alex and Brainy arrived at L-Corp a few days ago, Alex informed Brainy that she had her memories back. About how relieving it was. And when she told him how she got them back, he became very curious as to how she handled the truth seeker, in which she responded, "It was actually pretty easy. All I had to do was make sure Lockwood didn't ask the wrong questions. We weren't arguing for nothing. I just poked, and he was too distracted to ask what actually mattered." And when Brainy then asked her about the questioning of Supergirl's identity, she just explained that it was just wording of her answer that mattered. It wasn't a lie to say she didn't know who Supergirl was before the news was out, because at the time, she didn't have her memories of Supergirl's identity.

Kelly and James walked in by noon to check on Supergirl, and Kelly to check on Alex as well. She clearly didn't get much sleep and it had Kelly worried.

James also came in to let everybody know, "I'm going to go back to CatCo. People are giving stories, and I need to get on top of it. I need to make sure everybody knows that Supergirl didn't kidnap me." He raised his eyebrows and chuckled. He'd been laying low the past few days, not really knowing what to say to the public, but now with all the stories and rumors going out, he has to say something,

"And make sure they know that Kara isn't Supergirl with the video of her at AmerTek," Lena walked away from the tech she was working with. She was trying to find a way to make the nanites only sense and 'attack' Kryptonite. She walked over to James, "It isn't fair that Kara has to hide..."

Brainy walked over to Lena and James. He told Lena, "I don't think it's best to prove Kara isn't Supergirl just yet." If they did so before Supergirl is healed, Kara would still be 'missing,' which would become unexplainable. But if they wait until they help Supergirl, Kara can come back right away when she's proven to 'not be' Supergirl. Lena turned around to Brainy with question on her face. The Coluan elaborated a separate reason, "Lex has clearly set Kara up for trying to expose him. If we clear Kara now, he'll just go after her in some other way. A way that could be more permanent..."

"I want to clear my sister's name too, Lena," Alex sympathized. She wanted more than anything for Kara to keep her secret identity. "But I rather Kara be in hiding for now. At least until we help Supergirl. It'll be safer that way," Alex explained.

"I know, but I just wish I could call her, make sure she's okay. But she won't answer any calls- she must be all alone right now," Lena said in a worried voice, ironically making everyone else think about how Kara is laying down a few feet away from them. None of this was fair. Lex should have never gone this far. But he always crossed every line...

"Kara is one of the strongest people I know," James assured, "And I know she can handle herself, Lena." Then he went to walk out, "I'm headed to CatCo now. I'll try to help Supergirl through the media."

When he left, Alex turned on the TV to watch the news and keep up with what was going on. One of the CatCo reporters was on right now. She was one of the more frustrating, stuck up workers. The man interviewing her was in a grey suit and he wasn't from around National City. He came all the way from D.C, just to bring in these interviews, "And Mackenzie, now that you're here with us, can you tell us how you feel about what's happened recently?"
