"I managed to stabilise his injuries but he will need some time to recover," Melissa stated, taking off her blue latex gloves and placing her tools down.

Liam nodded, "has he started to heal?" He asked.

Melissa nodded, "very slowly, it's not the same as you. I think it's because he's a chimera? I guess the dread doctors didn't think that part through," she scoffed.

"Can I see him?" Liam asked, his head bowed down.

She nodded, pushing open the door for him. Nothing had prepared him for the sight of Theo though, he looked dead. With an iv in his hand and blood stains on his bed, Liam's heart sunk.

He took the chair and moved it closer so he could sit beside Theo's bed. Melissa excused herself and Liam sat down, immediately taking Theo's hand in his own. He closed his eyes and focused, slowly taking his pain.

It burned and stung but he took it, he knew Theo needed this release. He could do that for Theo, especially after Theo protected him. He shook his head, he always protected Liam. It infuriated him, his carelessness towards his own life.

Liam couldn't handle that.

He didn't want Theo to neglect himself for Liam, that was a large part of why they couldn't date. As risky as it was he knew Theo would end up dead, he would risk his own life to save Liam's.

That terrified the beta more than anything. More then the axe welding psychopath and more than slender man. He was more scared of losing Theo, or any of his pack members for that matter.

He couldn't handle the loss, the grief and the guilt that came with death. They were his family and his responsibility. Theo was his responsibility. He couldn't risk losing him, not after everything they had been through.

A small groan had Liam whipping his attention back to the chimera in front of him. "Hey, I'm here," Liam said softly.

Theo's eyes fluttered open as he faced Liam, "wha-" Theo said looking around.

"You're okay," Liam soothed, tracing Theo's hand with his fingers. Theo nodded, still not sure what was going on but knowing Liam was with him put him at ease. "Get some sleep." Liam said, using his spare hand to gently massage Theo's scalp.

Liam's phone buzzed which pulled him from staring at the chimera. Moving his hand he grabbed his phone, a text from Brett appeared. 'Sinema is going off, let's go', Liam rolled his eyes, 'no' he typed back.

'Don't be a downer' Brett replied, Liam hadn't told anyone what had happened to Theo. 'It's not safe, no one is going' Liam replied, hoping to end the conversation. 'Nolan and I are going, just come. It will be fun' Brett said.

Of course, Brett had sent all of this in their puppy pack group chat. It didn't take long before everyone else began to reply, within minutes they were all except for Corey on board. 'So Corey is the only one with any brain cells left' Liam said.

'I think it will be fun' Davina chimes in, 'who even added you' Brett replied. Liam groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. He knew no matter what he said they were all going to go, he would rather be there to keep them safe.

'Fine we'll go, but you are all idiots' Liam said. They agreed on a time and he put his phone away, looking back at the chimera. He moved his hand to lift up Theo's shirt, the wound was almost healed. Theo began to stir, turning back to Liam as he laid on his side.
