Chapter 25

"That isn't what I meant and you know it-" Liam groaned, rolling his eyes before staring back at Brett.

"Then what did you mean by it?" He asked taking a step forward.

Nolan and Theo shared concerned glances, their men were always at each others throats. God help them both, "you're an idiot," Liam said looking up to Brett.

And you're a dick," Brett snarled.

"You sucked it, not me-" Liam replied with a smirk, immediately Nolan jumped forward and grabbed Brett's arm.

"Don't-" Nolan said but Brett ignored him. Pushing Liam backwards Theo didn't intervene, "Theo, control him," Nolan said.

"I'm not controlling him, put your mutt on a leash," Theo replied.

Brett turned his attention to the chimera, "ah yes, rich coming from you-" Brett said "you're not even a real werewolf."

Before Theo or Liam could reply Corey stepped forward. "Real or not he's doing a better job at keeping us safe than you are," Corey said taking everyone back, it wasn't often Corey spoke up let alone defended Theo.

"Aw and this is coming from another useless chimera. Great-" Brett snarled.

"I might be useless but at least I'm cared about," Corey replied. Brett raised his fist but before it could land on Corey, a tight grip was around it.

"Don't even think about it-" Theo snarled, his eyes momentarily glowing gold as he tightened his grip on Brett's wrist.

"What are you going to do about it?" Brett asked turning his attention back to Theo.

Before Brett could react Theo's foot had connected with Brett's side, that resulted in the beta leaning forward. Theo sent an upper cut to Brett's chin sending him stumbling backwards.

He grabbed a handful of Brett's hair and leaned closer, "if you ever hurt Liam again, I will break every bone in your body over and over again." Theo whispered in a dangerous tone. Releasing Brett's hair he sent him backwards, leaning against Nolan.

"Let's go," Nolan said grabbing Brett's arm and dragging him backwards.

"I'm gonna kill him," Brett growled but Nolan continued pulling him towards his car.

"No, you're coming back to mine." Nolan said.

Although Nolan was an anxious person he wasn't scared of Brett. They didn't see the Brett he saw, the caring and soft Brett that would take care of him. The Brett that would give him head massages or talk him through breathing exercises when he was anxious.

The Brett he loved.

"He's a piece of shit!" Brett snarled.

"He's protective of Liam, you know that," Nolan replied, opening the car door and encouraging Brett to enter it. Once he did he shut the door and walked towards the drivers side. "You can't hate him for caring about Liam, you would have done the same thing for me," Nolan said softly, his hand running up and down Brett's arm. "Plus, you said it yourself. You weren't the nicest person to Liam at Devenford..." Nolan said.

Brett growled, turning to the window he sighed. "I had a lot going on... he was just so easy to pick fights with... I didn't hate him." Brett muttered under his breath, although Nolan heard him.
