13. Wisdom Teeth
Help her become a better person. He said. It will make her fall in love with you. He said. Trust me. He said. No, Louis. I will not trust you. Why? You know things about me that I don't even know. And your plan to make Max like me, is probably the most idiotic thing ever. And because of this, I was stuck in the most horrible place ever. The dentist office.
After detention and after Max and Louis went flat hunting (which failed), Louis had sent me a message explaining his mastermind plan. Which, by the way, isn't really a mastermind plan. More like a, I saw this is a cheesy soap opera plan. Louis' plan consisted of me helping Max become the person she wanted. According to Louis, I'd get to know her better and make her fall for me. Well, also according to Louis, the movie he saw this in, was sad. The guy ended up dying in the end. So, I better expect a great goddamn planned by Louis.
I sat in the corner of the waiting room, trying to ignore the stare the girl across the room was giving me. She seemed around the age of sixteen, but was sending me some extremely creepy cat eyes. In attempt to ignore them, I picked up a random magazine on the coffee table. Wrong move. It ended up being a Playboy magazine, which startled the girl and made her look away. But my question was: Why do dentist offices have Playboy magazines?
I flipped through the pages, not really paying attention to the practically naked ladies, but instead on the cool adds for yo-yo's. I wrote down one of the add's number on my phone, planning on buying that later on. I was startled out of my thoughts when I heard my name being publicly announced at the desk. Great, now this creepy girl knows my name.
The woman at the desk gestured for me to go in. I did as told and walked around the halls aimlessly, not knowing what I was supposed to do. Finally, I stopped when I heard Max's voice on the other side of the door. I pushed it open to find Max talking to the dentist about something. The noise of the door's hinges caught her attention.
"Hey, Zayn. By any chance, do you know what these things are?" Max asked, wiggling her fingers around. I stayed at the door, silent. I was shocked. The dentist came up to me, clearing his throat. I blinked my eyes, coming back to the face of the earth.
"She wouldn't sit still so we had to put her on happy gas. Just. . . make sure she doesn't do anything stupid," He said, opening up his notepad. After he gave me the bill and I paid, I guided Max out of the dentist office. With my luck, just hoped we never had to return here again. It smelled like old lady diapers in there. Once I managed to get Max in the car and buckle her seat belt, I got into my side, driving off as soon as I was buckled in.
"Oh my God! The trees are moving!" Max exclaimed, moving her head, trying to keep her eyes on one tree at a time. Although is was utterly adorable and I wanted to look, I kept my eyes fixated on the road ahead of us. "Is the world ending?" Max asked, looking over at me. I shake my head, a small smile forming on my face. "Well, okay. If the world ends, I'm blaming you." After that, Max leaned her head against the window. "Even the window is moving. And it feels funny." I chuckle, my eyes flickering over to her for a moment. Laughter suddenly escapes Max's lips. The car is dead silent. Then, out of nowhere, Max starts laughing again. This continues for about ten minutes, until finally, she goes serious.
"I think I've wet myself."
