16. The Adventures of Zayn and Niall

Zayn Mailk's P.O.V. :

"Uh, boys? I'm gonna head to the store real quick. I'm low on canvas paper," Max announced, bouncing up from her stool. I nodded, sending her the most fabricated smile I had ever made. Max seemed to buy it, advancing toward the door without looking back. Once the door slammed shut, I turned to face Niall, who was still designing a picture on the canvas.

"Alright cut the act, Blondie." My words seemed to startle Niall, since he clumsily dragged the paint brush across the whole canvas. Niall exhaled, turning his body to face me. His blue eyes curtly met mine, before landing on the floor. "I know you like Max. You know you like Max. So, just stay away from her. It's not easy making her mine when you're here. So, bro. Just. . . Y'know. . .

"What are you even talking about?" Niall asked, tilting his head to the side.

"You know now that you're hanging out with her just. . ." I trail off.

"Stay away from her?"

"Yeah, do you wanna maybe. . . Turn gay? Oh my God. Maybe you are! You're after Louis aren't you?" I rubbed my chin in thought.

"Uh, no." Niall squirmed in his seat.

"I always thought he liked you." I continued.

"He's not even gay." Niall sighed.

"I mean his hair is done better than my mom's. That has to be a sign." I pointed out.

"I can't believe we're having this conversation." Niall dragged his hand down his face.

"So you don't think he fancies you?" I quiz.

"People still use the word fancy?" Niall shot back.

"You're in denial, it's okay," I comforted.

"I don't even like him like that." Niall said.

"It's Louis, it has to be."

"Nandos sounds really good right now."

"I think you could use some chocolate --"

"Is it getting hot in here? I think I'm going to roll the window down," Niall stalled.

"It has to be Louis, bro." I nodded my head, knowing it is.

"Don't think so."

"Are you blushing?" I asked, poking his cheeks.

"I have a girlfriend!" Niall suddenly blurted out.

This caused me to shut up, my face going blank. Oh. . . So Niall is not gay. And I''m pretty sure Louis had a girlfriend as well. What was I thinking? I probably harassed this young man? Oh no. What if he tells Max about the questions I asked him and how I basically tried to get into his love life even though he has a girlfriend. She's gonna hate me.

"Seriously, mate. The only reason I'm here is because Louis asked em to pretend to be her friend. Just to see if she likes you. But, I guess I shouldn't be here. . ." Niall trails off, getting up from the stool. He freezes, stopping mid-stand. Confused, I raise an eyebrow at him. "Oops. You weren't supposed to hear that."

I shoot up from my seat on the stool. I accusingly point my finger at Niall. "You know!"

"And you know!" He shouts back. We take a seat on the couch.

"No, Niall. She knoooows! She has cameras around here! So now she knows that you know but she doesn't know that Louis knows!" I explain, making hand gestures that don't even make sense. Niall jumps up again.

"She knows! She didn't know that we knew she knew? Does she know what I know?" Niall asks, staring down at me. I stand up, sitting him down on the couch. I look down at him, trying to find the best way to explain this.

"She knows you know." I state. Niall shoots up.

"But Louis doesn't have excess to the cameras right?" I shake my head. "So he doesn't know that we know that she might know! Or does he?" Niall says. We both plop down on the couch, staring at the wall ahead in disbelief. I throw my hands up in annoyance.

"So, that's it! It's over! Everybody knows!"

(Sorry to the people who don't understand that xD ^^)

"Did you find a way to hack into her security cameras, Ni?" I asked, pacing back and forth behind him. Not two minutes after we realized Max might know, we were sitting in front of the computer in the desk/sketching part of the art room. We had went over to Max's desk and pulled her laptop out, searching for the security cameras. I stopped behind Niall when I realized how slow he was typing. "Why do you type so slow?"

"Did I miss this special gene where all guys have to type fast or something?" Niall continued typing in his slow and neat manner. I think he did it just so he didn't mess any words up. Oh well. What ever helps him type. . . After a minute, Niall became frustrated, slamming the laptop shut. Since his face was close to it, the lid smacked his cheek bone. "Oh shit!"

"Quarter in the swear jar!" I shouted, pointing at him as I led him to the bathroom. We stood in front oft he mirror, me behind Niall. We stared at his reflection for a moment, searching for something on his face. I instantly spotted the red mark just under his eyes. "Niall? Do you see anything?" I whispered.

"Yup. . ." Niall trailed off, staring at his reflection a little while longer. I waited for him to start crying, telling me how his innocent face was ruined. To be honest, Niall did seem like the kind of guy that would use his face to get the girls. And, to be honest on this too, it was a pretty good technique. Niall answered after a moment. "A fine ass motherfucker with a pretty red bruise!"

With that, we left the bathroom, putting some Ray Bans on Niall to cover the bruise up. We walked into the closet, looking for wires or something to help us hack into the system. Instead, we found a hair dryer, nail polish, and nail polish remover. I picked up the hair dryer, connecting it to the nearest outlet. Once it was on, I spun in circles, smiling like an idiot. Niall finally stopped me, tugging the cord out.

"This is no use! Why don't we just spend the last five minutes of our life talking about the dumbest things we ever did?" I suggested, losing all faith in my life. Niall nodded, following me back to the couch. We sat on the couch for moments, talking about things we regret and don't regret doing.

"In seventh grade, this girl told me I could have her bag of Nandos if I dated her for a week and sat with her in lunch," Niall says, staring at the ceiling with me. I turn my head to face him, raising my eyebrows. "Yes, I dated her. Are you fucking stupid? I love Nandos, holy shit." Niall answered, looking at me as if I was stupid.

"One time, I asked my mom to be my date for my kindergarten graduation party." I blurted out. Niall looked at me, jaw dropped, eyebrows raised. "Well, pardon me for being attractive." I rolled my eyes at him.

Suddenly the doorknob was turned. I jumped, looking at Niall in fright. Niall mirrored my face. Max opened the door with a smile on her face. She held a basket of hot buns and another plastic bag with painting supplies. She didn't seem to notice we had a plan. So Niall and I didn't mention it. A smile broke out on my face.

"Get those hot buns in here, girl!" I shouted. Max kicked the door close with her foot, making her way over to us. I smiled at Niall, warning him to not say anything and thanking him for trying to help with the plan. Niall returned it.

"I'm glad to see you two are getting along," Max smiled, pushing a strand of blonde hair behind her ear.

If only she know what really happened.

Sorry for the language. It's Niall guise. NIALL. Anyway, I really enjoyed writing this chapter because the things I wrote are completely random and I'm trying to keep the funny vibe of this story going. So, enjoy! :) x
