I glanced at Minji's focused expression as she knelt before me, carefully patching up all ten of my fingers. It was evident that the sight of blood made her uneasy. I cursed myself inwardly for letting things escalate to this point. She couldn't possibly hate me, could she?
After finishing her task, Minji looked up at me. There was a brief, silent exchange between us before she stood up. I hopped off the bed and followed her as she moved away. Her attention shifted to the antibacterial bottle on the table beside the bed. "You didn't even flinch," she remarked, referring to when she applied the solution to my fingers. I observed her from behind, her black blazer replaced by a white shirt with rolled-up sleeves.
She turned back to me, her gaze searching. I shook my head in response. My attention fixated on her hair, cascading down her back and framing her face. Minji's voice interrupted my thoughts, "Do you ever feel anything?" Her question pulled me from my trance, and I managed a small smile. "Only when I'm with you," I admitted.
The sudden sound of a door opening in the hallway jolted us both, particularly Minji, who cursed softly and ushered me behind a curtain. Pressed against the wall with my hands over my racing heart, I watched Minji scan the area, clearly concerned about being discovered. She cast a glance in my direction, and then her gaze shifted to my lips.
She kissed me tentatively, and as she pulled away, I kept my eyes closed, longing for the sensation to linger. When I opened my eyes, Minji blinked in surprise. "Professor," I murmured, noticing the bloodstains on her white shirt. My fingers had started bleeding again, so I hid my hands behind my back in embarrassment. "I'm sorry—" I began, but she cut me off with a curt command. "Shut up," she said, and I obediently fell silent, awaiting her next move.
With a careful approach, she leaned in and kissed me again. I responded eagerly, matching her intensity. The kiss grew deeper, and the force pushed my head against the wall. Minji's hands found their way to my waist, and I savored every moment of the connection between us.
Suddenly, a sharp tug on my left pigtail made me wince, my fingers instinctively gripping it. "Don't ever fight anyone again," she warned, her grip firm on my hair. I met her gaze, my curiosity piqued. "Or what?" I challenged, Her smile was almost mischievous. "Or this?" She gestured between us, making it clear what she meant. "Is done," she finished, her words a mix of threat and caution.
Could she be serious about ending whatever we had between us? I hoped not. She ordered me to go home, and I nodded, picking up my bag. As I turned to leave, I couldn't resist one last glance at her. Her angry expression and swollen lips made her incredibly attractive. "I like this side of you," I remarked with a smirk before making my exit. Her silence accompanied me out the door, leaving me to wonder what she was truly capable of if I ever pushed her to her limits.
As I left the infirmary, my thoughts raced, my heart still pounding from the encounter. I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and uncertainty about whatever was happening between Minji and me. The hallway was empty, and I leaned against the wall, taking a deep breath. Haerin, what are you getting yourself into?
The day went on, and I found myself lost in a haze of thoughts during my classes. It was hard to focus, especially when I kept stealing glances at Minji whenever she was around. The memory of our stolen moments replayed in my mind, making my heart race all over again.
When the final bell rang, signaling the end of the school day, I gathered my belongings and headed outside. The sun was beginning to set, casting a warm golden glow over the campus. I spotted Minji talking with some colleagues near the entrance. She looked up and our eyes met briefly, causing a rush of adrenaline to course through me.
I made my way to the gates, my mind still swirling with thoughts of her. The encounter in the infirmary had left me craving more, but I was also aware of the complicated nature of our interactions. As I left the school grounds and began my journey home, I couldn't shake the feeling that my world had shifted somehow, that the line between reality and desire was becoming increasingly blurred. And I wasn't entirely sure if that was a good thing or not.
Dani slid her backpack off and plopped down beside me during lunch. She looked at me with concern evident in her eyes. "Hey, you okay?" she asked, and I simply nodded in response. "Fine, why?" I questioned, intrigued by her sudden interest. Dani scanned our surroundings, as if ensuring no one was eavesdropping. "Because you're kind of the talk of the school right now," she revealed with a knowing expression, prompting a smirk to form on my lips.
I leaned back in my seat, propping my chin up with my hand as I glanced around the bustling cafeteria. "Oh, really? And what are they saying about me?" I inquired, my tone a mix of amusement and curiosity.
Dani chuckled, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "Well, let's just say that after that little showdown with Claire, people are both terrified and impressed," she explained, a grin tugging at the corners of her lips. "I mean, taking her down like that? It's like something out of a movie."
I couldn't help but chuckle at her description. "Yeah, well, I didn't expect her to try and fight me like that," I admitted with a shrug. "But you know me, I can't resist a little chaos."
Dani laughed heartily, shaking her head. "You really are something else, Haerin. But hey, you've definitely made a lasting impression."
I glanced at her with a playful glint in my eye. "Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" I teased.
She winked at me. "Depends on who you ask. But personally, I find it quite intriguing."
As we continued chatting, I couldn't help but feel a sense of comfort around Dani. It was nice to have someone who accepted me for who I was, quirks and all. And for a moment, the chaos and drama of my life seemed to fade away, replaced by genuine connection and friendship.
