Chapter 4- Fractured

Lois exclaimed as she looked at a black and red Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, "This is car is so cool!" Lois looked at Kara before she continued. "What do you think, Kara?"

Kara smiled before she replied, "Yes, it looked pretty cool. I wouldn't mind riding in that sometime."

Lois smiled as she looked at her dad and asked, "Dad, can I have this one? We agreed that I could have any car that I wanted."

General Lane looked stunned and glanced towards a Subaru minivan. "I don't remember that as our terms. I remember distinctly saying that I would buy you a car." General Lane sighed as he stared into Lois' eyes. He looked at the car and back at Lois before he sighed again. "Fine. You can have this car as long as you promise to fit in and not drive it like a bat out of hell. Deal?" General Lane replied.

Lois smiled before she replied, "Agreed. I will fit in and promise not to drive like a bat out of hell. Thank you, dad."

A salesperson came over to check if they need any help. General Lane told the individual that they would like to purchase the vehicle. The salesperson took them to someone who could assist with the paperwork. After the paperwork was finalized and General Lane had paid for the car, the salesperson gave him a copy of the paperwork and the keys to the car. Lois thanked General Lane as they walked out to the car.

Lois looked at Kara as she smiled and asked, "How about a ride now?"

Kara was shocked as she asked, "A ride.... now?"

Lois laughed before she replied, "Yeah, now. Or, unless you have somewhere else that you would like to be."

Kara shook her head as she replied, "No, no. It's just that I haven't asked my parents if it is okay. I don't

want them to get upset that I didn't ask."

General Lane cleared his throat to get their attention. "It's alright, Kara. I will tell your parents that you are with Lois, showing her around the town. You two have fun, be safe, and don't stay out too late." General Lane said.

Kara smiled before she said, "Thank you, General. We will."

Lois smiled at her dad before she said, "Thanks, dad." Lois grabbed Kara's hand, which caused her to blush, before she continued. "You heard him, Kara. Come and show me around."

Kara was nervous as she replied, "O-okay. C-coming."

They said their goodbyes before Kara and Lois got in Lois' new car, and General Lane got in his car. They pulled out to the street as they went their separate ways.

As Lois drove, she glanced over at Kara and said, "What is there fun to do around here?"

Kara smiled before she replied, "Not really much. It is a small town, but we do have a nice mall and a Big Burger Palace that serves the best burgers, fries, and shakes around." Kara glanced over at Lois. "If you want, I can show you around the mall, and we can eat at the burger place."

Lois smiled before she replied, "Sounds funs. I am in."

Kara gave Lois directions to the Central Mall. They looked around and tried on a few clothes and swimsuits. They planned to go swimming at the local swimming area before the summer was over. They spent a long time there until they got hungry. Lois drove them to Big Burger Palace. After Lois had parked, they got out and headed inside. They waited in line. When it was their turn, Kara ordered for both of them. Lois offered to pay for their food, but she relented when Kara refused and paid her half of the bill. They found a booth that seemed to have some privacy. When their food was ready, an employee brought them their food, drinks, and milkshakes. After eating their burgers and fries and talking for a long time, they were still talking. Lois forgot that she put her drink on the left side of her. Kara had been placing her drink on her right side but for some reason put it on her left side. Kara was distracted by an older couple who were talking to her about the game the night before. Lois wasn't paying attention as she was looking out the street. She reached and grabbed a drink and instinctively drank from it. Lois instantly realized that she had drank out of Kara's soda and not her own. It tasted different and she could tell the lip gloss didn't taste like her own. She looked over and realized that Kara didn't see it.
