Kara came downstairs with her backpack, purse, and a gym bag packed with clothes for her tryout that would happen later that day after classes. Her parents were on the front porch enjoying the early morning sun while sipping their coffee as they discussed different things. They stopped talking when Kara walked out the front door onto the front porch. They smiled as they watched her come outside. Kara put her backpack and gym bag down as she waited for Lana to come and pick her up for school. Jonathan and Martha took turns grilling Kara to find out of she is ready for school and the cheerleading tryouts. Kara assured her parents that she was ready for whatever happened that day, even though deep inside she was not so sure. Soon, a truck could be heard coming down their driveway as they turned to see Lana driving up in her truck. They waved at her, and Lana waved back. Lana greeted Jonathan and Martha as Kara picked up her backpack and gym bag. They wished Kara and Lana best of luck at the tryouts. Kara and Lana shared their appreciation before Kara placed her stuff on a back seat of Lana's truck. Everyone said their goodbyes before Lana drove off with Kara to Smallville High School. On their way to school, Kara and Lana excitedly discussed the tryouts and Lana's aspirations to be cheer captain. Kara was supportive of her friend but would be just happy to make it on the squad to cheer alongside her best friend. After some time, they pulled into the Smallville High School Student parking lot. They parked next to Jessica's car as Jessica got out of her car. Jessica saw them and waited for them to get out. Kara and Lana got out of Lana's truck and grabbed their stuff. Jessica greeted Kara and Lana, and they greeted her back. They talked as they headed towards the main entrance. Chloe and Pete soon joined them as they headed inside to their lockers. They talked for some time before they all agreed to meet up for lunch. They went their separate ways for their first hour of class. Kara became more and more nervous as they day slowly dragged on. After what felt like an eternity, it was lunchtime. Kara met her friends in the cafeteria before they got in line to get lunch. Everyone but Kara was busily chatting away. They sat down at the table they claimed the day prior and began to eat. Lana noticed Kara picking at her food and became concerned.

Lana sighed to get Kara's attention. "Kara, are you worried about the tryouts after school?" Lana asked.

Kara was shocked as she asked, "Am I being that obvious?"

Lana nodded. "Yes, you are picking at you at your food. You only do this when you are worried about something." Lana was sympathetic as she replied.

Kara smiled weakly as she said, "You're right. I am completely worried about the tryouts." Kara took a deep breath and let it out slowly before she continued. "I can't help but feel like I will fail and waste everyone's time."

Lana looked compassionately at Kara. "You aren't wasting anyone's time, because you will crush the tryouts with no problem." Lana paused before she continued. "Now, stop mopping around and eat your food." Lana was encouraging as she said, and everyone agreed.

Kara felt pride from her friends' encouragements as she smiled and nodded and replied, "Thank you everyone for believing in me, and I will do my best."

Kara began to eat her food and chat lively with her friends. In no time, lunch was over. They all headed to their fourth hour classes. The day seemed much brighter for Kara has she began to look forward to the tryouts, instead of dreading them. Their sixth hour class was physical education. They showed the permission slips to the teacher. The teacher took the permission slips and read over them.

She smiled as she handed them back. "I see. The cheer squad has been just as important to this school as the football team has been for many years. You two just stretch to be ready for the tryouts." The teacher paused before she continued. "Best of luck with the tryouts and leave no regrets behind." The teacher said before she headed to direct the rest of the class on what they would be doing for the day.
