Chapter 12- Zero Hour Approaches

December 26, Justice League Watchtower

"I am just saying Diana. She can't be trusted." Batman said as he walked with Wonder Woman into the command center.

Wonder Woman sighed. "Why can't be trusted, Bruce? Remember that we were all on ice before she showed up and helped save your city from the Penguin, the Scarecrow, and Mister Freeze." Wonder Woman was annoyed as she replied.

"I understand that. It is the fact that she let Mister Freeze go. Also, we do not know who she is, where she comes from. She could be a part of an alien invasion to conquer earth for we know." Batman was stern as he replied.

They were surprised when they saw J'onn J'onzz standing in front of them while staring holes through them.

"I am sorry, J'onn. I didn't mean anything bad from my last comment." Batman quickly said.

"It is quite alright, Bruce. I know that you didn't direct your comments towards me." J'onn replied.

Wonder Woman looked at Batman. "We will talk more about this later, Bruce." She looked at J'onn before she continued. "What is the emergency, J'onn?" Wonder Woman was kind as she said.

"Hello, Princess Diana. Remember the asteroid Omega Sigma 9 that we have been monitoring?" J'onn was direct as he replied.

Wonder Woman nodded. "Yes, I remember. What has changed?" Wonder was curious as she replied.

J'onn turned and pushed a few buttons before the monitor showed a diagram. "While we were captured in Gotham, something has changed the speed and direction of the asteroid. It is now on a collision course with

Earth as we speak." J'onn was calm as he replied.

Batman and Wonder Woman were shocked as the looked at each other. "How much time do we have until that happens." Batman was concerned as he asked.

J'onn directed them to the monitor screen. "At its current course and speed, it will collide somewhere in the middle of the United States by December 31st." J'onn was stern as he replied.

"Is there a contingency plan in place?" Batman was solemn as he asked.

"The world leader asked if this something that our watchtower could take care of." J'onn replied.

Batman shook his head. "We created the watch tower without the weapons needed to prevent it from being used for evil purposes." Batman said.

"What about the Green Lantern Corps? With their help, it shouldn't be an issue. Correct?" Wonder Woman was concerned as she asked.

J'onn looked at Batman. "That's what I have told them." He looked at Wonder Woman before he continued. "Hal Jordan is still recovering from his ordeal in Gotham. He said that the Green Lantern Corps normally would not get involved in such matters. Even if they did, it would be debated upon and take longer for someone to get here. Their help would be too late." J'onn was solemn as he replied.

"Is there anyone else we can contact for help?" Wonder Woman was frantic as she asked.

Batman shook his head. "No. The people who could help cannot breathe in the vacuum of space. Even if they could, they would only be able to take care of the smaller asteroids and not the main one." Batman replied.

Wonder Woman thought for a moment. "What about this Supergirl. She seems to be fast and stronger than most. She was able to break through Green Lantern's barrier with ease. How about we find a way to contact her for help." Wonder Woman was earnest as she said.
