A few days before Christmas, Smallville

Kara and Lois headed back home from the grocery store with food and eggnog. Kara surfed through the radio stations and came across a news report. The reporter said, "Top story for the day. NASA scientists have confirmed that the planet killer asteroid has changed direction and speed. They surmise that it could come close enough to Earth to be a global catastrophe. Even though the Justice League has not been reached for a comment on the current developing crisis, Madam President Haire maintains faith that the Justice League will prevent any harm from happening to the citizens of Earth. In other news, there still is no word from Go-." Kara changed the radio channel until the radio landed on a station playing "White Christmas." Kara and Lois smiled at each other as they listened to the song.

Lois was curious as she said, "Hey, Kara. What do you think about this planet killer asteroid? Do you think it something that the girl of steel should take care of?"

Kara frowned before she replied, "I think that people are overreacting about this whole thing. I am sure that it will just fly around us like it usually does." Kara paused before she continued. "If not, I am sure that the Justice League will swoop in and save the world like they usually do without having to get her involved."

Lois tried to stay calm as she said, "The news just said that they couldn't be reached for a comment. Do you think something might have happened to them?"

Kara shook her head before she replied, "No. I am sure that they are really busy and can't sit around all day waiting for a phone call. I am sure that they are on top of the issue and will protect all of us from harm."

Lois frowned as she said, "I am sure that you are right." Lois paused before she continued. "On another note. Does your family really drink so much eggnog for the Holiday?"

Kara laughed and smiled before she replied, "You really have no idea, Lois." They laughed before Kara continued. "Word of advice. Stay away from the eggnog bowl the adults drink out of. My uncle seems to like to spike it with moonshine. It does nothing to me but tastes awful."

Lois laughed before she replied, "I will take your word on that, Smallville."

They soon arrived home and were greeted by Sophie. They walked in with the groceries and were greeted by their family members. At supper time, they were bombarded with series of questions about grades, cheerleading, the school newspaper, and school. After dinner, they joined everyone in the living room until everyone slowly went to bed. They were exhausted as they went upstairs and got ready for bed. Kara woke up as she heard a distant noise. She woke Lois up as she got out of bed.

Lois yawned and groggily asked, "What is it, Kara?"

Kara replied without looking at her, "Sorry for waking you. I think that we may have a bat problem in Metropolis."

Lois was confused as she said, "It's okay. What do you mean by a bat problem? Isn't that more of an issue for animal control?"

Kara shook her head before she replied, "Not a bat problem, but more like a batman problem that I need to resolve."

Kara turned on her light and started to get quietly dressed. Lois thought for a moment before she got up and started to get dressed. Kara froze when she saw Lois getting dressed.

Kara was confused and shocked as she asked, "Lois, what on Earth are you doing?"

Lois replied as she continued to get dressed, "I thought that it would be quite obvious. I am coming with you."

Kara was stunned as she said, "You can't. It could be too dangerous for you to come."

Lois replied sincerely, "You will be there to keep me safe. Besides, it was hard enough to lie to my dad. Now, I would have to lie to him and your family. Please, don't make me go through that again."
