Did you know that when you get poison ivy/oak, you can put bleach on it instead of calamine lotion?
The bleach neutralizes the plant's oil and it will eventually leave the body, turning the spot into a simple scab. It'll also help to prevent spreading when in the water. The only downsides to using it is that if you've already scratched it open before the bleach's application, it'll sting like crazy, and you can't touch any fabrics or your eyes or mouth with it, so be careful there.
I'm using it right now, but, as is the nature of poison ivy, it SUUUUUCCKKKSSS.
