DELILAH DARLING and Jackie Taylor were constantly fighting for the top spot. The highest rank in the social hierarchy of Wiskayok High School. Both girls had it all, rich, pretty, hot boyfriends, and a spot on the wildly successful Varsity Yellowjackets girls soccer team.

Though one thing that Jackie had that Delilah didn't, was the captaincy of that very team. Which gave Jackie a position of power over her, and boy did she take advantage of that.

Extra laps for mouthing off, extra footwork drills for disagreeing, extra time to help Misty Quigley pack up the field equipment for even looking at Jackie funny.

If that wasn't enough for Delilah to hate the girl, she didn't know what was. In fact, it was all that grouped together that fuelled the Darling girl's motivation. She didn't want to admit it but Delilah had Jackie Taylor to thank for her maintenance of straight A's.

What Jackie didn't have, that Delilah definitely did, was the confidence to go up against people when they said something. Confrontation was Delilah's thing, petty punishments and dodging it was Jackie's.

Those two combined was a nightmare on the field for the rest of the Yellowjackets.

Especially now as just recently Delilah had decided she'd be an extra pain to Jackie. Now she was the one ordering the girls for extra laps, drills and training.

God was it torture for them, but they dared not say anything because it was fortunately helping them all unwillingly.

Nationals was the only thing everyone was thinking about, it was looming closer and the threat to their reputation and position in the school depended on the shoulders of the Yellowjackets performance in that final match. Delilah and Jackie could not afford a loss, especially not since they'd been on a winning streak that whole season.

And, despite agreeing that there would be no distractions prior, it seemed the two girls had not abided to that rule, still acting smitten with their boyfriends, Jeff and Tyler, whilst also balancing their own thriving social lives.

Or, well, Delilah was balancing her social life. Jackie's seemed to have only consisted of Jeff and Shauna Shipman.

Delilah watched the two best friends talk animatedly every day after practice. Actually, prehaps it was just Jackie speaking, Shauna seemed to have not said much in their conversations, really just appearing to listen to the girl. The Darling girl eyed them from the top of the outside school steps, her arms crossed and hip jutted out, eyes narrowed and staring heatedly at the two from her higher position.
