"Who said I was doing a favor for you?" He asked casually, "I need something in return."

Something in return?

But what?

I have nothing to give him.

Before I could ask him, the receptionist handed him his credit card, telling him the bill had been paid.

"What do you want from me?" I asked him once his attention was back on me.

"You would have to marry me?" His reply came quickly as if he were only waiting for me to ask it.

"What? Have you lost it?" The words came out of my mouth on their own, without caring that we had an intruder.

The receptionist gave us a look that didn't go unnoticed by Shravan as well.

"I think we should talk in private," he offered.

I wasn't sure about it but I didn't have many options either. He has helped me when I needed him the most, so I would have to listen to what he has to say. I think because of all the pressure and tension, I have misheard him.

He took me to a corner where there was no one to listen to our conversation.

"The thing that I want in return from you is that you should marry me," he said as soon as he was confirmed that my attention was on him.

I was once again as surprised as I was before.

"Are you even listening to what you are saying?" I asked just to confirm

"I always think before saying," he said.

"Have you gone crazy? I barely know you," I stated the fact.

"Same goes from here," he said

"Then why do you want to marry me? It is not a game. It is a matter of my whole life!"

Marriage is something very pure for me, and I always thought of marrying a person after knowing him completely because he is going to be the one to be with me for the rest of my life. One wrong decision and my life is destroyed...

"Because my father wants me to settle down, and I want someone to marry me before he binds me to any random girl," he said with a casual shrug.

Seriously?

"You should marry someone who can love you, you know. The girl, I don't remember her name, but once she came to the office when I got you with Aditya, and you both went to lunch. If you just want to get married, then marry her because I think she likes you," I told him.

"A lot of girls like me. Shall I marry all of them?" He asked me back.

"But why me? I don't like you that way, you know."

I stated it firmly, but at the same time, I tried to keep my voice soft so that I was not hurting him. I can't forget that he helped me when no one was there, not even my father.

"This is exactly why I want you to marry me. It will not be a simple marriage; instead, it will be a marriage of convenience. For the world, yes, it would be a normal marriage, especially for my parents, We would have to go through all the rituals, but in reality, it would be nothing more than a marriage of convenience."

"Huh?" My eyebrows drew together as I was utterly confused, even more than I was before.

I am sure he read my face because he continued to explain me.

"We will be married for only 6 months and after that, we will get a divorce, You will be free from my side to do anything you want. I will not meddle in your life neither you will"

He stated and I stared at him in bewilderment. I think he is high on drugs!

"This way my parents would be convinced that I cannot stay in a marriage and they will leave me for my own good. We don't like each other so it will not be difficult for us to separate and I believe that you will never fall for me so it will not become any problem in my plan"

He huffed after telling me the way he had planned to ruin my life and that too without my permission.

"But what if I fall for you?" I asked the obvious.

I have never been in love with anyone else before but I cannot guarantee it if a man like him stays around me for 24 hours.

"Then it will be your mistake and this is why I am paying you" The way he was answering me so quickly it seemed like he came prepared for all the questions that I could probably ask.

"No" I shook my head vigorously "I am not ready for this," I told him clearly raising my hands and taking a step back "I will return your money"

Marriage may be a game for him but it is not for me. If I did as he said then I would be left with nothing more than a heartbreak. There is no meaning in such a relationship and I will never be able to develop feelings for any other man as well.

NO!

A big no!

"How cute," he said, shoveling his hands in his pants pocket, a small smile playing on the corner of his lips "You think it is so easy?" He asked his eyebrows raised as he questioned me.

I gulped, the shift in his demeanor threatening me.

"The payment is already done and I am not taking it back. But if you still insist then tomorrow morning the first thing I am doing is firing you"

My jaw dropped, my break caught in my throat and my eyes widened, listening to his words. How easy is it for him to say that?

"And I will make such a termination letter that no one will give you a job, your whole career will be ruined. You would neither be able to pay for the education of your brother nor afford the medicines of your mother"

Tears pricked my eyes and stung the tip of my nose. I thought that he was a good human with a heart who was helping me selflessly but no I was wrong. He is a beast who is now taking advantage of my situation.

"I am giving you enough time to think about it" he patted my shoulder "As your mother is in operation theatre I know that it is a difficult time for you. I am giving you one week in the meantime your mother will recover and you will get plenty of days to think about it. Either you are accepting my offer or going jobless for the rest of your life"

Throwing a bomb on me he just left me in my own thoughts. My hands trembled and my vision became blurry with the mere thought of accepting his deal.

In both situations, it is me who is going to suffer!
