Warning: this chapter sucks. I struggled to not draw it out nor go too fast. Otherwise it would've ended up being three chapters of just this haha.

The women had sat in silence, the air buzzing around them as chattering could be heard around the camp.

Ranza had pulled back after a moment, "How's Viola?" She asked, prompting a shrug from Maybelle. "Fine. You know her, always something." She chuckled with a small notion of her head.

"She was always somethin' colorful. I guess you're her mom though, so it makes sense." Ranza snickered quietly, prompting a look and nudge from Maybelle. The older woman chuckled to herself. "I suppose you are not wrong."

"If I can ask.. how many of us left after the manor?"

Maybelle thought for a moment. "A few... Some took a break and came back. Louise of course stayed through. But she can be like a leech." She sighed.

Ranza snorted. "You love her though." Maybelle nodded. "She's like that daughter that never moves out." The two shared a look and laughed together. Apparently at the same time they both thought about the same time, the same awkward silence buzzing again.

After a moment of easy breathing and the two of them looking away to places in the tent. "It's not your fault, you know?... Lillian's death." She said and clarified. Ranza shrugged, her mind obviously far off from there. "I... just can't but helped maybe things could've been different if I somehow saved her, somehow we still would've been all together."

Maybelle looked at her. "Es. We lost seven people, all of them took a toll on us. Will we ever forget them? No. But, we can move on. Only more people are going to get help if you dwell on the past. Sure... I wish that wouldn't have happened, but there wasn't anything we could do. And for Lillian? She was a wreck-loose. Hell- look at her sister." She said, making a face and a chuckle at the end.

Ranza huffed an amused sigh as she eyed the ground. "I guess... I mean like you said; she was her sister's sister."

"Crazy blondes will be crazy blondes." She said with a suggestive look. Ranza eyed her. "Must've learned that from you."

Maybelle scoffed. "How mean." She said with a sparkle in her eye before shooing her away. "Now, enough sad talk. Why don't you go talk to the girls, get yourself engraitiated."

Ranza nodded, standing up and watching as Maybelle sat back on the stool. "It was nice seeing you." She said quieter. May smiled at her in the mirror. Leaving Ranza to step out of the tent with a breath escaping her.

"Ranza!" Suddenly a woman ran into her. Ranza made a noise and grinned at the woman. "Hey Jose..." she chuckled, the brunette grinned at her. "It's so nice to see you again." She said with a brassed tone. "It's been awhile."

"It has, too long. Where've you been?" She asked with aimable blue eyes wide, grabbing Ranza's arm and leading her over to a table, sitting her down.

The two gossiped and caught up, another few women joining in them. Josephine had to be the most attentive of the group, beside Lucine she was the closest to Ranza. Ranza was around 19 when she had joined, Josie being 22 at the time.

She was a city girl through and through, and didn't even know how to ride a horse. But they taught her all she needed to know, Maybelle had figured after a while she'd branch off, but no, she stayed.
