Beam's POV

The day had been much longer and more challenging than we had expected, filled with revelations and worries. Ming was beyond himself with concern for my best friend, and I found myself unable to fully comprehend the situation. Forth had gone out to grab some coffee and snacks for us since none of us had eaten all day.

"Ming, he'll be alright. I know my friend is not that weak to give up," I tried to console Ming, who was still gazing outside the ICU room where Pha had been moved after his treatment. Ming had confided everything to us, and I was shocked beyond words. My best friend was involved with my boyfriend's cousin. I mean, what were the odds? If it had been someone else, I might have understood Pha, but Ming being with Pha felt like a betrayal. Wayo was Pha's boyfriend and Ming's childhood friend. What were they thinking when they got involved in this mess? what were these bulls thinking about while doing this?

"I know he will be fine, but I don't know what to do now. I... I can't leave him, P Beam. This scared the hell out of me. Losing him right before my eyes... I don't even want to think about that moment. It's tearing me apart. He means everything to me, everything. I don't know what to do," Ming said, his hands gripping his head as he stared at the floor. I was equally lost in my thoughts. What should I tell him? Pursue my best friend or let him be, knowing they don't fit together and their friends, Kit and Wayo, wouldn't accept them?

The doctor and nurse emerged from Pha's room. We both immediately stood up and walked toward them.

"How is he, doctor? Can we see him?" Ming asked as soon as he reached the doctor.

"He's fine now, out of danger, but we still need to observe him for tonight. The drugs in his body weren't in a dangerous quantity, but combined with alcohol, it affected him quite badly. His high fever exacerbated the situation, leading to his collapse. Don't worry; he's stable now, but he'll be unconscious for another 3 to 4 hours," the doctor reassured us. Ming and I both breathed a sigh of relief as we had been holding our breath while waiting for the doctor's verdict.

"Thank God. Thank you so much, doctor," Ming said gratefully.

"Thanks for saving him," I added my thanks to the doctor.

"Can... can we see him, doctor?" Ming asked hesitantly.

"You can see him. A nurse will be in shortly to monitor him, but one of you can stay with the patient. There's another bed for the person," the doctor explained, and we thanked him again before heading inside the room after receiving his permission.

As we entered the room, Ming immediately stood by Pha's bed, his gaze fixed on him. He held the railing of the bed with one hand, and I noticed his eyes were welling up with tears. I saw my best friend's pale face, the dark circles under his eyes, and his chapped lips. It hit me hard how much he had been struggling, and I felt ashamed that I hadn't noticed it sooner.

I walked to Pha's bedside and gently brushed the hair from his forehead. He still had a fever, but it had subsided a bit since this morning. Ming had not moved from his spot, and his gaze never left Pha.

"Ming... He's here. He's not going anywhere," I said while walking toward him. I approached Pha's bedside and sat down in front of him, taking Pha's hand in both of mine.

"P Phana," he whispered my best friend's name.

"Pha," He repeated, his voice barely audible. My heart ached as I saw the depth of their feelings for each other. The way Ming held Pha's hand, it was clear their connection was far more profound than simple affection. It was love. The way Ming held his hand like Pha was an expensive glass figurine.

Ming's words were filled with raw emotion as he expressed his love and commitment to Pha. I stood behind him, feeling the depth of their connection, and patted his shoulder in support. It was clear that Ming was not going to let Pha go, no matter what obstacles lay ahead.

"I won't lose you. Never. I swear I will love you like there's no tomorrow. I don't care what people say or what our best friends or ex-boyfriends might think. I will love you no matter what. I'm the biggest fool in the world to ever think of letting you go," Ming declared passionately.

His words hung in the air, a testament to the strength of his feelings for Pha. I could see the tears in Ming's eyes, glistening with the unspoken fears and hopes that had brought him to this moment.

"I accept you both. When he wakes up, I'll give him a good scolding for not telling us, but I won't stand in your way. I won't stop you guys from being together," I reassured them both, knowing that their love was genuine and undeniable. Ming nodded in agreement, his determination unwavering.

"Beam?" I heard Forth's voice as he entered the room, breaking the emotional moment. He had brought refreshments for us, and it was a reminder that we needed to take care of ourselves too.

"Is he awake?" Forth inquired as he approached us, concern in his eyes. I shook my head to indicate that Pha was still unconscious.

"Both of you need to eat something. Come here," Forth said, placing the food on a table in the corner of the room. The room was well-equipped with a two-seater sofa and two beds, just as the doctor had mentioned. It was more comfortable than we had expected.

I walked over to Forth, and he enveloped me in a warm hug. His embrace was reassuring, and I leaned into it, seeking comfort. I needed his support as I grappled with the guilt of not being there for my best friend when he needed me the most.

"Beam, love, you need to be strong. I'm here for you whenever you need me, but for now, don't let negative thoughts consume you. Be there for your friends. I'm here for you, and Ming, you need to be there for both Pha and Kit," Forth said, his words offering solace and encouragement. I nodded in his embrace, feeling grateful for his presence.

Throughout this exchange, Ming had remained steadfastly by Pha's side. Forth moved toward his cousin, who was standing in front of Pha. He placed his hand gently on Pha's stomach, then took Ming's hand from Pha's hold and guided him to stand up.

"P Forth!" Ming protested, glaring at his cousin, reluctant to leave Pha's side.

"You need to eat to take care of him. I don't need another person getting sick on my hands. You get that, little cousin?" Forth said, unfazed by Ming's glare, as he playfully dragged Ming onto the sofa.

"I am fine. I just want to sit beside him until he wakes up," Ming argued, his desperation evident.

"Then eat something, Ming. He won't be happy to see you looking like this when he wakes up," Forth advised.

"Okay, just stop treating me like a kid, P Forth," Ming grumbled. Forth responded by ruffling his hair affectionately.

I returned to the sofa and sat beside Ming, while Forth settled on the armrest beside me. The food disappeared quickly, as we had all been too preoccupied with worrying about Pha to eat earlier. Ming, however, was quick to stand up once again and reclaim the spot he had occupied earlier, by Pha's side.

"I want to tell you how much you mean to me and how much I love you," Ming whispered to Pha, his voice filled with sincerity and devotion.
