Beam's pov

It had been one hell of a week since I realized my feelings for him. I never thought my heart could soften for someone like this. The warmth and affection I felt in his arms had answered all my doubts. I tried to keep my emotions locked away, fearing that I would end up like my parents. I didn't want to follow in their footsteps.

As I was lost in my thoughts, someone called my name, pulling me back to reality.

"Beam... Beam... Beam," Phana's voice finally broke through.

"Huh, sorry, what?" I looked up to see Phana looking at me with concern. The classroom was empty; it must have been dismissed.

"Are you alright? I've been calling you for a while," Phana asked, worried.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I'm fine. I was just lost in thought."

"Are you sure?" he asked again.

"Yes, I'm fine, Pha."

"Okay, what were you thinking about?"

"Nothing important. Where's Kit?" I tried to change the subject. I didn't want them to know about my feelings. It would only complicate things.

"He went on a date with Ming. I'm heading out too. Wayo is joining us for lunch. Want to come?" Phana asked.

"No, thanks. I need to catch up on the classes I missed. I'll grab something to eat in the cafeteria." I didn't want to be a third wheel on their date.

"Alright, I'll be back in an hour for the next class. Call me if you need anything," Phana said, heading towards the parking area, leaving me alone in the classroom.

I continued to bury myself in my books, trying to push away my thoughts and feelings. But soon, someone interrupted my solitude.

"Hey, you're Beam Baramee, right?" I heard a voice and looked up to see a first-year engineering student in a red jacket standing before me. He pulled a chair and sat down without waiting for an invitation.

"Who are you?" I asked, slightly annoyed by his intrusion.

"I'm Sam, a first-year engineering student. You didn't tell me your name," he replied.

"I don't want to. Now, go away," I said, trying to dismiss him.

Sam chuckled and placed something on the table in front of me. It was a glass of shake.

"From your attitude, I'm pretty sure you're Beam Baramee. I saw you in our faculty during that fight, but I didn't get a chance to talk to you."

"I don't talk to strangers. Now, leave this table, please. I'm busy," I replied, focusing on my books once again.

"Accept this drink and let me court you," he said casually, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

"What?!" I was taken aback by his audacity.

"I like you. I've liked you since the first time I saw you. But that day, I couldn't intervene in my hazer's business," he explained.

"But I don't know you, and I'm not gay. So there's no chance for you," I stated firmly.

"I don't care. You can get to know me now. Just give me a chance to court you. I know you'll like me too," he said confidently.

I closed my book and faced him, exasperated. "I'm sorry, but I don't like you, and I'm not attracted to men. It's not fair to pursue someone who doesn't have feelings for you. Find someone who can reciprocate your love. I'm not that person."

He stood up and replied, "I won't give up easily. I will make you mine."

With that, he turned and left, leaving me sighing and burying my head in my books once more. Why did trouble always seem to find me?
