The next morning, Beam was discharged from the hospital, and his friends, Phana and Kit, took him to his dorm. Phana drove his car towards their dormitory building. Although they all lived in the same building, they resided on different floors.
"I thought Forth would be there with you. Where was he?" Phana asked, curiosity evident in his voice. When he arrived at the hospital earlier that morning to get Beam discharged, he had expected to see that engineering guy, Forth, but there was no sign of him.
"Why would I know about his whereabouts?" Beam replied with a hint of irritation. Phana and Kit both sensed the annoyance in Beam's voice.
"Beam, what happened after I left?" Phana inquired, concerned about his friend.
"Nothing," Beam replied curtly. Phana sighed, realizing that Beam wasn't in the mood to share any details about his encounter with Forth. They decided to let it go for the moment.
"Okay, we're here. Kit, you go ahead and open his room. I'll walk with him," Phana said as they reached their dormitory building. Kit nodded and got out of the car, heading towards the entrance. They lived on different floors but in the same building.
"Can you buy me dinner for tonight? I'm not in the mood to go somewhere right now," Beam asked as he exited the car.
"Sure, anything you want," Phana replied without hesitation. He was always ready to help his friends in any way he could.
"Thanks for sticking with me through all of this," Beam said sincerely.
"Beam, I'll do it again and again. You're my friend. But please, let's not make a habit of this," Phana said with a hint of sternness in his voice.
"I'll try," Beam replied with a faint smile.
"Please do. And for the love of all things good, stay out of trouble from now on. I think I'll have gray hairs if this keeps up," Phana added.
"I thought you were already a daddy! Aren't you?" Beam teased, prompting laughter from Phana.
"Very funny. Don't say that in front of my innocent boyfriend. His delicate mind will be tainted," Phana quipped, rolling his eyes.
Beam couldn't help but laugh, and it felt good to have his friends by his side. They reached Beam's dorm, and Kit had already opened the door.
"What are you laughing about? Care to share it with me?" Kit asked as he saw Beam's cheerful demeanor.
"Phana's going to be a daddy soon," Beam chuckled, sharing the joke with Kit. Phana sighed, realizing that the teasing wouldn't stop anytime soon.
"Don't mention it in front of him, Kit," Phana warned, but his smile revealed that he didn't mind the banter.
"Okay, we're staying here for the night, right?" Kit asked, seeking confirmation.
"Yeah," Phana replied, and they all settled into the room. They played games, watched movies, and enjoyed each other's company while Beam rested.
As evening turned into night, Phana got up and left the room to buy dinner for Beam. While he was gone, Beam fell asleep, and Kit joined him in slumber after some time.
When Phana returned with dinner, he tried to wake Beam up, but Beam was groggy and feverish. Phana noticed the fever and became concerned. Kit woke up too, and they both realized that Beam wasn't well.
"Beam, wake up," Phana gently shook him, helping him sit up. Kit examined him as well, checking his fever.
"What happened?" Kit asked with a worried expression.
"He has a fever," Phana replied, his concern evident.
"Are you sure he's okay? Should we call a doctor?" Kit asked, still worried.
"No, it's not too high. He's just exhausted from the adrenaline crash. Let him rest. If the fever gets worse, we'll take him to the hospital," Phana reassured Kit, who was still concerned.
"Don't worry, Kit. He'll be fine," Phana added, trying to put his friend at ease.
"Okay, but we'll keep an eye on him tonight. I won't sleep. Why does he have to be so demanding? Now I have to spend my entire night taking care of him. He's so difficult. Why am I friends with him? Remind me, please?" Kit complained, half-jokingly.
"Because..." Phana began, then stretched his body and reached for his phone to call his boyfriend.
"Because you're worse than Beam," Kit scolded, keeping a close watch on Beam's condition. He didn't let go of Beam's wrist after checking his fever. Phana chuckled and stroked Beam's cheek gently, causing Beam to shift his face towards Phana's touch.
Kit couldn't help but be amused by how their normally casanova friend could be so cute. However, they had known Beam since high school, and they were used to seeing him being cute, even if he didn't acknowledge it.
Phana watched over them and eventually went to sleep on the sofa. Kit stayed awake, ensuring that Beam's fever didn't worsen throughout the night.
