Forth's POV
The next day, we embarked on our breakfast date, opting for a restaurant just outside the city, right by the beach. I had learned about Beam's fondness for beaches during our conversation that morning when we were deciding where to go.
"Forth, it's beautiful. I like it," Beam exclaimed as we stepped out of the car.
"I know, that's why I brought you here," I replied with a smile.
"Have you been here before with anyone?" he asked, looking at me with curiosity.
I chuckled at his question and answered, "There was a gear ceremony for engineering students held here."
"Are you sure you haven't been here with any of your past boyfriends or girlfriends?" Beam inquired again as we made our way into the restaurant.
"Beam, I don't take my casual partners on dates. Trust me when I say you're the first person I've decided to pursue and date," I assured him. He responded with wide-eyed amazement and a nod.
Over breakfast, we continued to chat, delving deeper into each other's lives. I wanted to know everything about him—his likes, dislikes, weekend activities, favorite pastimes, food preferences, movie tastes, and preferred places to visit. We were both enjoying getting to know one another. However, with afternoon classes approaching, I eventually dropped him off at his dorm.
I asked if I could pick him up later to go to college together, but he declined, mentioning that he had something to attend to before class. I didn't press him for details.
"Well, that's it then. We'll see each other later," I said, scratching my neck nervously. I stood in the hallway of his dorm while he stood by the door.
"I had a great time, Forth. Thanks for today," he said with a warm smile.
"I enjoyed it too, Beam. Um... can... can I ask you for another date?" I stammered, feeling a bit foolish.
"S...sure... I would love to spend more time together." Beam's smile was infectious, and I couldn't help but grin in response.
"Okay, then. See you later. Bye." Those were my parting words before he bid farewell and closed the door. I lingered outside for a few minutes before finally walking away from the dorm, my heart lighter than it had been in a long time.
Beam's POV
I clutched my chest after closing the door, feeling my heart racing so fast that I worried I might faint at any moment.
I had declined Forth's offer to ride to college together because I needed some time to think and process everything that had happened.
"I am doomed. Fvck"I muttered to myself as I walked over to my bed and flopped down on it. My back sank into the soft mattress, and my legs dangled over the edge.
"What am I going to do? I agreed to give him a chance, but am I really ready for this? I have no idea what I'm doing," I sighed, staring up at the ceiling.
"Forth," I whispered his name and placed my hand over my chest again, feeling my heart race at the mere thought of him. This was a mess. I was a mess.
I pushed myself off the bed and decided to get ready. Both of my friends were probably going to kill me since I hadn't called them last night. I didn't feel like driving today, so once I was ready, I picked up my phone and called Phana.
"Hello, Pha," I said when he answered.
"Who's this?" Ughh he is mad. He had every right to be mad.
"I know. I know, I'm sorry. I fell asleep and forgot to call you."
"You moron. We were worried sick last night. At least answer our calls or call us back," he scolded me.
"I didn't realize it was on silent. I'm really sorry, Pha... please, please forgive me," I pleaded, hoping he would understand. I heard him sigh on the other end.
"Just don't do it again, Beam."
"I promise. Um... can you pick me up? I don't feel like driving today."
"What's wrong? Are you okay?" Phana asked, concern creeping into his voice.
"I'm fine, really. I'm just not in the mood to drive," I explained.
"Okay, I'll pick you up in 20 minutes. Be ready, and I'll call you when I'm there." He hung up, and I sighed with relief. The rest of the day at college was a blur, and I didn't even have time to go to the cafeteria. It was already 4 in the afternoon when I finally finished my classes and stepped out of the classroom.
And there he was, looking as irresistible as ever, standing in front of my class with a hand running through his tousled black hair.
