Forth's pov

Today, we were free. Just one-morning lecture, and now we had the entire day to ourselves. "We" refers to my gang. That's what everyone in college called us - a gang. There were four of us: Lam, my childhood best friend; Park, my high school buddy; and Max and Tul, who joined us in college. We were headed to the cafeteria because Park was starving since classes had started this morning. As we walked towards our usual table, Park couldn't contain his hunger.

"Hey, Fvckers move it, you guys! I'm starving," he exclaimed, frustration lacing his words. We had been deliberately walking slowly, much to his annoyance. We all chuckled and picked up the pace. We were nearly at our table, about to grab our seats, when someone bumped into me. All my friends froze in their tracks, going eerily silent. The boy who had bumped into me whimpered.

"Ahh," he was on the verge of falling, but I quickly circled my arm around his waist and pulled him up. However, his momentum made him collide with my chest before he held his face up from my chest and opened his eyes, locking onto mine. Those light brown eyes seemed to glow, and I felt like I could get lost in them. Who was this boy, and what was he doing here? Just then, someone grabbed his neck and yanked him away, causing my grip on him to loosen. I recognized him; he was from the science faculty. His lackeys were with him. Whatever the reason for his presence, it couldn't be good. He appeared incredibly angry with the boy, but I decided not to involve myself any further. That's when the guy named Rune spoke.

"Well, well, it's good to see you, Baramee."

"Yeah, same here, dude," the brown-eyed guy replied sarcastically.

"You'll never learn, huh?" Rune retorted.

"You should give your girl some lessons, bro, not me," Baramee hissed back at Rune, who let go of his neck but grabbed the collar of his shirt instead. He twirled him around, and that's when he saw me. Now, I took a good look at him, and wow, this boy was stunning. Anyone who saw him even once would fall for him, regardless of their orientation.

To interrupt my train of thought, one of Rune's lackeys spoke up.

"Rune, just finish him. What are you waiting for? Just do it." I wondered what Baramee would do now. I heard him say,

"Woohoo, wait, I haven't done anything wrong. Why are you doing this?" Rune pointed his finger at him and hissed.

"You flirted with my girl, and you're saying you haven't done anything wrong?"

"I didn't flirt. I didn't approach her. She came to me. She flirted with me. Everyone knows I don't flirt, dude." But Rune paid no attention and pushed him back, making him stumble.

What? What was I thinking? I didn't even know his name, and here I was getting anxious over his predicament. I needed to control my emotions. I signaled to Park and Max to handle the situation.

"Park, Max, clear." They nodded in understanding and moved to deal with the situation – not with Baramee. I was about to leave when I heard a loud bang, and Park and Lam called out my name.

"Forth!!!" I turned my head and saw that Rune had slammed Baramee's head onto my table. I watched as Baramee stumbled on his feet, touching his temple and then his blood-covered fingers. Blood was running down from his temple. He searched for something to support himself but found nothing, and his eyes closed as he started to fall. I growled, anger surging through me. I looked around, and everyone was swallowing hard, their eyes wide. Even my friends looked apprehensive. I cursed under my breath.

"Shit!" I rushed towards Baramee and caught him just before he hit the floor.

"If any of those idiots walk out of here on their own two feet, all of you will pay the price," I shouted at my friends. They sprang into action, and within two minutes, all those troublemakers were either on the ground, some unconscious and others groaning in pain.
