Thomas's (POV)
I walked into the medjack hut and saw (Y/N) laying there asleep like normal..
"Shuck me How am I going to tell her that she has to have Brain Surgery because it could be the only way to save her life?"
I sit in a chair that's next to her cot and just stare at the wall for what feels like hours.. then I hear the tiniest of voices that bring me back to reality..
"Tommy? What did Hope say about my Hydrocephalus? Are you going to use more of your Magic?" She asks..
I look at her and at first I'm not sure how to respond..
I grab her hand and look at her then say "No my little Snowflake my magic won't make you better this time."
She looks at me confused but she nods for me to continue explaining.. "The gladers and I had a gathering.. And at this Gathering Hope told us that the option to save your life is Brain Surgery."
After I say the words I feel my own heart break.. but it breaks even more seeing (Y/N'S) reaction to the news..
"NO.. there has to be another way.. Tommy I don't want anymore needles.. PLEASE TOMMY PLEASE!"
Hearing her plea breaks my heart.. but I know I told Hope to save her life whatever it takes..
I take a deep breath and wipe (Y/N'S) tears and say to her.. "Snowflake I will be with you every step of this surgery."
She looks at me and says through tears and pain "Promise?"
"I promise to Protect You Snowflake. Always."
We hug each other and stay like that for a few more hours in the morning..
Hope then comes in the early afternoon and tells me that she's ready for (Y/N) as her next patient..
I carry her to the room where they will be doing the procedure.. but just as we enter (Y/N) freaks out..
"NO I don't want it.. NO.. TOMMY PLEASE DON'T LET THEM HURT ME.. TOMMY SAFE!!"
She holds me like I'm going to disappear again..
Hope looks down at (Y/N) and says in a gentle voice.. "(Y/N) would like Thomas to be present for a little bit?"
I watch (Y/N) and she just nods her head Yes.
They get her on the table and make her vitals stable while I put on a hospital gown..
I walk back in and (Y/N'S) freaking out again saying "NO needles!"
Hope told me they would rather inject her to get her to sleep it would make the surgery quicker..
I rush over and draw (Y/N'S) attention to me so Hope can give her the "sleepy juice" as she calls it..
"Alright Snowflake me and everyone else will be right outside and as soon as you are awake Hope is gonna come get us." I tell her.
I go to leave but I feel (Y/N) grab my hand.. "No N..o.. To..Tom..my.."
I don't turn and look back knowing she's asleep.. I leave the hut so Hope can save her life..
Hours later Nighttime in the Safe Haven:
I'm sitting in a chair waiting for news on (Y/N).. Newt is sitting next me..
It's a quiet silence between us.. until I decide to break it..
"I can't believe (Y/N) got this sick and I didn't see it.. I'm such a SHUCKING idiot. Maybe (Y/N) would be better off if I wasn't her Big Brother."
Newt looks at me and his response "Tommy Your The Reason that Little Girl has made it this Far because The same way You didn't Give Up on Us You Didn't Give Up (Y/N).. TOMMY YOU'RE THE REASON (Y/N) IS SAFE AND FREE!" I smile at his words knowing he's right..
"Thanks Newt." I say..
Hours later:
I don't realize I've fallen asleep in the chair.. when I feel a hand on my shoulder and I almost jump awake..
I look around and see Hope standing in front of me.. panic rises in my chest.
"How is she?" Are the first words out of my mouth..
Hope looks at me and my friends all waiting for a reply..
"Thomas that sister of your's is tough.. She made it through the surgery..
She's in recovery now if you want to see her. Ah one at a time." She says with a bit of a stern look on her face..
I make my way back to the (Y/N'S) recovery room.. just before I enter Jaden stops me..
"Thomas here you should hang on to this." He says as he hands me (Y/N'S) HYDRO Warrior bandana. I feel the tears in my eyes.. but I wipe them away.. Thanks for keeping it Safe for her it means a lot..
As I walk into her room I hear the beeps of the machine and see (Y/N) has a bandage wrapped around her whole head..
My heart sinks.. Hope mentioned that she had to place a tube in her head to relieve the pressure she was experiencing because of the Hydrocephalus..
"I'm so sorry this happened to you. Snowflake. I'm sorry I didn't see that you were in pain sooner. I'm sorry that I'm a terrible Big Brother to you for not Protecting you. I'm so sorry Snowflake!" I say to her through tears..
Y/N'S (POV)
The boy thinks the reason I'm sick is his fault and he's crying..
I can't wake up and tell him I'm ok because my body's so tired..
I hear the boy chuckle then he kisses my forehead and says to me..
"Yes. You just focus on Getting Better Snowflake. I'll be right here when you wake up. I Love You."
