Narrator's (POV)
(Y/N) woke up from sleep thinking of the night before.. from the boy waking up.. to learning his name Jaden.. Jaden.. it just rolled off her lips like she'd Known him forever..
To the kiss.. ah they kissed.. she kissed him.. she smiles as she gets ready to go on a walk in the woods..
She got dressed in a short sleeve purple dress and placed her headband on her head.. she left and as she was making her way to the woods she bumped into Thomas..
"Hey Snowflake. Where are you heading this early?" He asked.
(Y/N) looked up and smiled at her big brother who she loved so much.. then said "I'm taking a walk in the woods to look for some new flowers for bracelets for the new arrivals."
Thomas smiled at her and responded "ok. Be careful it rained last night and Minho told me the river is flooded."
(Y/N) looked at her big brother and said.. "Tommy No need to worry I won't go that far."
Thomas smiled before (Y/N) ran and gave him a hug then disappeared into the forest..
Y/N'S (POV)
As I walk through the forest I notice how quiet and peaceful it is..
I'm soon at a field with so many flowers.. I started picking red, orange,every color of the rainbow..
But then I see it a BIG beautiful Multicolored flower with every petal a different color..
"Oh wow! That would be a great flower bracelet." I think to myself..
As I'm about to make my way to the multicolored flower I see it the river is in between the area where I am and the flower..
I look at the Gap and notice it's about 2 feet wide.. I think to myself that I can make it if I have a running start..
I go back as far as I can from the edge and take a running start hoping I reach the other side and hope I don't end up in the rushing water..
I feel myself falling through the air.. I expect my body to hit rock but it hits water instead..
"Oh Shuck!" Realizing I'm in the rushing water of the river.. with NO way out.. and worse NO ONE knows I'm in trouble..
Thomas's (POV)
I watch (Y/N) as she goes into the woods to pick flowers.. some things never change..
I suddenly feel a panic feeling in my chest.. I ran to find Newt..
"Newt something isn't right.. I can feel it.. it's like she's gasping for air but also getting thrown into rocks.. and there's water.." Thomas tells him.. saying it's their special connection..
He then takes off running through the woods coming to the flower field and seeing the river that's extremely high..
My heart sinks thinking (Y/N) could've fallen into the rushing water..
I fall to my knees thinking she's gone, I couldn't save her, why did I let her go alone?
Then suddenly I hear a small voice that breaks me out of my trance. "Anybody.. Help? Tommy.. HELP ME!"
I get up quickly running to the edge looking over and I'm stunned to see (Y/N) holding onto a tree branch as the water rushes past her..
I quickly jump to my feet and carefully make my way down to her she sees me and smiles both out of fear and relief..
I then do probably the stupidest thing and jump onto the tree branch (Y/N) is clinging to..
"Snowflake look at me.. I'm gonna get you on my back and we are going to make it to safety." I tell her..
When suddenly it all happens so fast.. we are thrown from the tree branch straight into the rushing water as it throws us into the rocks.. I hold (Y/N) close so she doesn't get hit by the rocks.. panic sets in as I hear her ask me "Tommy how we going to get out of this?" I hear the fear in her voice..
"How are we going to get out of this?" I think to myself.
None of my friends know that I went to find her in the woods.. suddenly I feel my hand slipping and I see we are going deeper into the rushing water..
But just as I think it's over that I'll never see my family again or see
(Y/N) enjoy more of her childhood.. a strong hand grabs my wrist..
"Hang on Shank!" I open my eyes to see The boy Minho mentioned that protected (Y/N) on the shoreline.. I watch as pulls with all his might..
Saving both myself and (Y/N) from the rushing water..
As soon as we are safe on solid ground I carry (Y/N) bridal style and notice she's shivering. I run as fast as I can back to Safe Haven.. where I'm greeted by Hope..
She looks at (Y/N) and asks "What happened?" I tell her as she quickly takes her from me and gets her warm..
While I'm waiting for news on (Y/N) I notice a small gash on my side probably from the rocks at the river..
Thomas's (POV)
As I walk into the medjack hut I look at (Y/N) she's covered in a blanket she has a few scraps and bruises probably from the rocks..
"I'm so sorry Snowflake.. I should've never let you go find Flowers alone." I say to her feeling guilty..
When I exit the hut I see the boy that saved us both..
I walk over to him and we start talking..
"You're the boy that saved both me and my little sister?" I ask him..
"Yes." he responds.
"What's your name?" I ask him..
The boy looks at me and replies"It's Jaden."
Hearing the name it's like a memory appears right front of me..
And all the pieces click into place..
"You're the boy that I asked to be her protector before I was sent into the Maze." I tell him realization hitting my face..
"Yeah." He responds..
Jaden looks at me and says "Thomas I protected her from the new arrivals that tried attacking her and I also rescued you both from the river."
Thank You for protecting My Little Light I don't know what I would do if anything happened to her!
Jaden nodded saying "I will always protect her."
Thomas smiled knowing that his Little Sister was safe.. and that she picked a great boy for her first crush.. but he kept knowing that part to himself..
Big brother has eyes and ears watching (Y/N) in Safe Haven when he can't..
So knowing that Jaden makes her happy is good enough for Thomas.
