Third Person POV:
Will signed the paper in front of him before sighing.
"Excuse me. We will have no sighing in my classroom," His annoying professor says, pressing her glasses up on his face. She looked like one of those mean old librarians who you'd think died years ago. "Continue that sighing and I'll have you sign ten more worksheets."
Will nods, continuing to write to his name in fancy letters. William. William. It was so incredibly boring.
After two hours of agony, Will's professor decided that that was a wrap, and headed out.
Watching the door for a few moments, Will waited until he was sure the woman left. Then he bolted down the hallway and out of the castle.
He slowed down as he entered the forest, wanting to save his energy.
I wonder if Mike brought something again. Will thought, fiddling with the object in his pocket.
As he continued walking, he heard something. "Hear my voice beneath the sea.." Will stops, glancing around. "Sleeping now so peacefully.." Will frowns, before he starts walking towards the voice. "At the bottom of the sea.." Will's eyes glaze over as he follows the song. "Sleep for all eternity."
Na-ha, na-ha, na, na, na...Na-na, ha, ha-ha, ha-ha... Ha-ha, ha, ha..
Will brushed away a leaf and saw the edge of the land, with a small two feet drop, a few feet away from him. "Sailors live so restlessly.. Come with me, sleep peacefully," The voice was joined by others, making a beautiful harmony. "Listen to this siren song, worry not for nothing's wrong.."
The brunette slowly walked closer to the water, until he was at the edge. He crouched down and looked at the water. "Ooh, ha, ha, ha-ha.. La, la, la, la, la, la.." The voices sing. A beautiful woman rises above the water, and gently grabs Will's arms. "Let my voice lead you this way, I will not lead you astray.."
Slowly, the woman pulls Will forwards, until he splashes into the water. It was dark, murky, and very deep. In Will's dazed vision, he saw other women swimming up from the bottom, surrounding him as he gradually sank down.
He barely feels the air bubbles leaving his mouth, or the burning pain from his lungs.
But then something barrels into him, pushing him up.
...
Mike frowns, swimming up to the river entrance. He didn't want to leave yet, that meant he'd have to stop seeing Will.
He swims to their usual spot. He's not here.. Mike thought. He's usually early.
"Sailors live so restlessly.. Come with me, sleep peacefully.." A faint voice sings. Mike's eyes widened. He knew that song.
Oh no, shit! Mike thinks as he darted out of the meeting area and toward the voices.
They were in the actual ocean, and Mike dove down. Will was fifteen or so feet below the surface, slowly sinking, with a bunch of mersagas swimming around him. Shit! He thought, diving down through the water.
He dived under them before turning and barreling into Will's chest, shooting both of them up to the surface. They splashed out of the water and Mike pulled Will over to the shore, dragging him onto the sand and away from the water.
Three heads popped up, glaring daggers at Mike. They were quite creepy looking, with pale --almost stark white-- slimy skin, long tails that matched exactly with their skin without any fins or decoration, elf-looking ears, a melted-looking mouth with razor teeth, eyes that were all black, and long wispy white hair.
"Go away, I don't want you here," Mike snaps at them.
"He wasssss our meal.." One of them hisses, pointing one of their long bony fingers at Will. "You cannot take our meals."
Will started coughing up water, lurching up as he coughed and gasped for air.
"I said I don't want you here," Mike snarls.
They growl, but eventually sink under the water. Mike feels Will shaking and turns to him, concerned on his face. Will's eyes were wide as he looked at the water.
"What are those things?" Will says through chattering teeth.
Mike sighed. "Those are mersagas," He says softly. "Which basically translates to witches of the sea in Old English and Latin. They are the sea creatures that eat humans."
"So that's why humans are so scared of mermaids," Will says. "They see those things all the time." Mike nods. "Thank you for saving me." He smiles at Mike as he shakes from the cold. The hot sand wasn't doing much to help either.
"We should get you warmer," Mike says. "I would help you stand up, but.." They both look at his long black tail that was currently laying on the sand.
Will chuckles. "Yeah, I don't think you can help in that department," He says.
"Your Majesty!?" A faint voice says, causing both the boys to freeze.
"You have to go, now!" Will says, looking at Mike urgently while softly pushing him. Mike rolls down the sand and into the water.
Four guards, including Steve, rushing onto the beach, with Steve being in front. Steve gets a glance of Mike's tail and his eyes widen.
"Mermaid!" Steve yells, rushing to Will. "There's a mermaid in the water!"
The other guards rush to stand protectively over Mike, before two of them throw spears into the water. Mike, who was swimming downward, wasn't fast enough to avoid a spear and it lodged itself into his tail, causing him to scream.
A bit of blood floats to the top of the water, much to Will's horror. But Steve narrowed his eyes.
"You didn't get it," Steve says to the guard, making Will almost sigh in relief. "Come on, let's get you back to the castle," Steve says to Will. The brunette nods, and lets the guards help him stand.
Mike tried to swim, but every movement caused stabs of pain all around his tail, so he started sinking and landed on a rock formation far away from the coral reef.
Help! Mike yells. Someone help me! Please!
Of course, no one heard him. He whimpered in pain as he closed his eyes, trying to sleep away the pain.
