Third Person POV:
It was midnight, and it was a new moon, so it was almost pitch black. Will pressed his ear against the door, listening to the guards.
He memorized their schedules, and they switched out at midnight, so he knew they were leaving soon.
Sure enough, he heard the blocky boots walk away, and he slipped out of his room. He tiptoed down to the area he was at before, waiting for the ravenette mermaid. The sea was churning from the ship going through it, and it was mesmerizing watching it.
Will sat down just a few steps away from the water, and the constant churning and the rocking of the boat gently lulled the boy to sleep.
A few minutes later, Mike swam up the watery floor, transforming and sitting next to Will.
He smiled at the sleeping boy, and decided to wait a few moments before waking him up. He heard a splashing noise and turned toward the water. His gaze immediately turned into a glare.
"What do you want?" He growls at the mersaga.
The creepy pale woman hisses at him, before raising her bony finger and points at Will. "Our meal," She hisses.
"No, go away," Mike snarls, glaring daggers at the woman. "He's not your meal."
"How dare you.." The mersaga hisses. "Know your placeee.."
The mersaga and Mike have a glaring contest before the mersaga sinks underwater. Mike smiles, before turning back to Will, only to realize that Jonathan was standing at the bottom of the stairs. Mike immediately jumps up and backs away from Will, staring warily at Jonathan.
"Don't worry, I'm not gonna attack you," Jonathan says, watching him as well.
Mike stays where he is, albeit relaxing slightly. Jonathan glances at the sleeping Will in thought.
"How long have you been talking with Will?" Jonathan asks.
Mike doesn't respond immediately. "A few weeks, I think," He says, with a waiver in his voice. Enough of a waiver to tell Jonathan how scared he was.
Jonathan takes a few steps forward, but stops when he notices Mike flinching. "I'm not gonna hurt you," He says again. Mike squeezes his eyes shut and nods. "You're really the mermaid?" Jonathan questions. He didn't look like any mermaid he would've thought of.
"Yes," Mike says cautiously. "I'm a mermaid."
The eldest prince walks over to Will, sitting down next to his brother. Mike watches him in suspicion, ready to jump in if he even touches Will in a harsh way.
After a few minutes, Mike gradually steps closer, until he's sitting on Will's other side.
"I wanted to talk with him tonight," Mike says. "But I don't want to wake him."
Mike frowns as Jonathan nods. Mike yawns, holding a hand over his mouth. Jonathan smiles softly. "Do you sleep in the water?" Jonathan asks.
"Don't kill me if I sleep.." Mike mumbles, before dozing off and slowly slumping against Will.
Jonathan sighs, before standing up. He picked Mike up and moved him over to a small covered area so if someone came and looked they wouldn't find him. He picked Will up and sat him next to Mike.
Will's eyes fluttered open. "Jonathan?" He whispers.
Placing his finger to his lips, Jonathan smiling and pointing to Mike. Will's eyes widened in surprise before he smiled and cuddled up against the ravenette as he fell asleep again.
