Sanctuary of Surasthana, Sumeru City, Sumeru
"I'm going to decline today Kaveh," you say without looking at him. "I don't think I'm ready to go out again."
"Oh… Of course I understand," Kaveh says while laughing a little.
Alhaitham leaves the room but Kaveh doesn't move. When his housemate is out of earshot, Kaveh turns to you and looks at you seriously.
"I'm going to ask around Port Ormos if they know something about what happened to you. If you don't hear from me by tomorrow…"
You shake your head, "It's okay if we don't have any information about me yet. I'd rather see you are safe and sound than risk your safety. My conscience won't be able to take it."
"Nah, don't worry about me. I've faced much worse but I think I will take a leaf out of Alhaitham's book and be calculative about this."
You nod and reach out to him, giving his arm a light squeeze. Kaveh's eyes widen a bit and he smiles at you shyly, then he suddenly takes your arm to turn it around. His forehead scrunches at the sight of Alhaitham's bite mark.
"That mother fu–"
You pull Kaveh back forcefully before he can storm off and both of you start to fall, he is able to regain his balance and hold on to you at the same time. Your hand is in his chest, just above his heart, and you can feel how his heartbeat starts to go faster.
"I'm going to beat up Haitham, why did he bite you?" Kaveh's voice shakes with anger, "He marked you like this! I can't believe he will do something like this, like he's not thinking straight. And he bit you twice!"
"It doesn't hurt, don't worry about it." You stand up while rubbing on Alhaitham's bite marks, "And the first mark was my fault…"
"Your fault?"
You told him about your dream 'powers' without recounting Alhaitham's dream. Kaveh just silently nodded, writing down notes as well. Both of you end up staring at each other for a while in comfortable silence before Kaveh packs up his journal and helps you walk towards the kitchen.
Cyno is sitting at the dining area while Nahida is standing on top of a tall stool, watching Alhaitham cook. The gray-haired man looks at ease, teaching Nahida proportions of the ingredients.
Kaveh nods at Cyno before saying goodbye, "Are you busy this weekend? Shall we play some TCG?"
The Mahamatra's eyes sparkle in delight, "Are you ready to lose, boy?"
"I was able to defeat you twice last time also, I will have some new rare cards."
"Rare cards?"
Kaveh puffs out his chest, "My client is from Liyue and she's giving me Captain Beidou cards."
Cyno's eyes widened in surprise. When he sees you looking at him, he composes himself before saying, "Ehem. And how is your client able to get Captain Beidou cards when it's just recently announced?"
This seems to be the question that Kaveh wants to be answered as he leans his two arms on the table with a wide grin.
"Captain Beidou is my client. I'm renovating her private quarters in her flagship, the Crux."
It must really be big news because aside from Cyno's surprised expression, Alhaitham turns to look at Kaveh as well. Nahida turns to the trio, before looking at you while she shrugs her shoulders.
"You landed quite an impressive client," Alhaitham remarks.
Kaveh soaks up the momentary glory and he claps Cyno in the back. He looks so pleased since it's rare for Alhaitham to acknowledge his accomplishments.
