{-REMUS LUPIN-}
I'll never forget the day I first met the other Marauders.
It was my second day in my first year at Hogwarts. I was terrified. What if someone found out about my condition? What'll happen during the transformations? What if I don't make any friends?
At the time, I thought it would be best if I didn't make friends. If I ended up hurting someone, I could be expelled. And I had a stutter, so I didn't want to speak to anyone I didn't have to.
Either way, I entered my dorm and met three of my four roommates. Two of them were talking and chatting loudly while the third listened quietly.
(For those wondering, our fourth roommate was a boy called Kingsley Shacklebolt. I didn't speak to him until we left school.)
I shuffled into the room and the trio turned to look at me.
"Alright, mate?" The one with long black hair asked.
I swallowed. "Al-Alright."
"What's your name?"
"R-R-R--"
Shit. I'm doing it again.
I put my head down and walked over to my bed.
Keep to yourself. Keep to yourself. Keep to-
My thoughts were interrupted by an intense amount of pain in my foot. Probably the result of stubbing my toe.
"Gah- you motherfucking shit-fuck!" I yelled without thinking.
Once the pain resided, I noticed all three boys staring at me. My face heated from the attention.
"Shit, I, uh, s-sorry."
"Don't be sorry! That was impressive!" The black-haired boy said. He stood up, walked- no, strutted towards me and held out his hand. "I'm Sirius. Sirius Black."
I shook it timidly. "Remus Lupin."
The other two boys approached. The one wearing glasses nudged Sirius. "Not gonna introduce us, mate?"
"That's Peter." Sirius said, pointing to the smallest boy behind him. "And this dickhead is James."
I tried to say 'Nice to meet you', but no words came out.
"Shit, sorry, I, ugh, I have a st-stutter. Sometimes words, the words they just-" I groaned slightly in frustration.
"It's alright, mate. Peter 'ere barely says owt."
The boy smiled, giving me a small wave.
"Is it time for lunch yet? I'm bloody starving!" Sirius whined.
"Breakfast was literally two seconds ago."
"I, uh, I know where the, the kitchens ar-re."
"How the bloody hell did you find them on your second day?"
"A-A muggle girl showed me. Lily E-Evans."
(I met Lily on the train. Her and two other girls called Alice and Marlene. All three are Gryffindors.)
"Lead the way, mate."
And that's how we became friends.
But I was in my third year when I met her.
It was almost midnight and me, Sirius, James and Peter were stuffed under Prongs' invisibility cloak.
We were creeping towards the Slytherin dorms so we could give them a morning surprise in the form of 100 Cornish Pixies (which had been obtained from the new Groundskeeper, Hagrid) in their common room.
We had just deposited them when a mangy orange cat with purple eyes began yowling at the end of the corridor.
"Lady Gertin!"
Lady Gertin was Filch's cat. She was (according to Sirius) a thousand years old and hated each and every one of us. Probably because of the time James chucked her in the lake.
"Scatter!" Peter whisper-shouted.
James transfigured into a deer and ran at full speed towards the Great Hall. Sirius headed for the kitchens and Peter ran straight into a gap in the bricks.
Meanwhile, I bolted across the corridor and stuffed myself into the nearest broom cupboard.
"Colloportus," I whispered, pointing my wand at the lock.
I chuckled lightly, imaging the Slytherins' reactions when they found their common rooms wrecked. Or maybe the pixies'd make their way into the dorms.
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard someone clear their throat.
"Occupied."
I swirled around and saw a girl perched upon a hovering broom with a book in her wand.
She waved at me. "Hi."
"What are you doing here?"
"Homework. Common room's too loud to get anything done, even at midnight."
I scanned her up and down. In the dim lighting, I could see her h/c hair, which was tied in a bun, and her s/c skin. She was wearing a school jumper, a white shirt with the buttons undone and a plain black skirt.
"You're not a Slytherin, are you?"
She pointed to the small badger on her jumper. "Hufflepuff. You're from Gryffindor, right? Remus Lupin."
"How did you-?"
"You and your friends are infamous. 'The Marauders'. I assume you've just done something to the Slytherins?"
"Depends, are you a prefect?"
"I'm in the third year."
"Same."
"So," She leaned forward, intrigued, "What'd you do to them?"
"We filled their common room with Cornish Pixies."
I saw a sly smirk spread across her lips. "Nice one. I'm sure I'll hear about that at breakfast."
I squinted, trying to get my eyes to adjust to the darkness. "How can you do you homework like this?"
"I eat lots of carrots." She joked, before actually explaining.
"When my mum came to Hogwarts, she swallowed some of potion she wasn't supposed to. It made her see in the dark. And she became sensitive to light. Luckily, I only picked up the night vision." She laughed lightly.
"So, you're a pure-blood?"
"Half-blood. You?"
"Same. I grew up around muggles though."
"I didn't even know my mum was a witch until I got my letter. Professor Dumbledore taught her. I think the coast is clear, by the way."
"Oh, thanks." I opened the cupboard door cautiously. Before I left, I looked back at her one last time, in proper lighting.
She was definitely shorter than me. She was reading 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'. Her eyes were e/c. Her wand - which she had used to fasten her hair - was longer than mine, with stars carved into it.
I hadn't been able to see it before, but she was the prettiest girl I'd ever met.
"What's your name?"
"Y/n."
"I hope to see you soon, Y/n."
"I hope so, Remus."
Ever since that day, her image was engraved into my mind. She was a strange girl to say the least. She was friends with a Ravenclaw boy, Xenophillius Lovegood and often spoke to Lily Evans and Alice Fortescue.
Most times I saw her, she was usually in or around the Forbidden Forest. I also found her hidden in strange places from time to time.
In our fourth year, she joined the Hufflepuff Quidditch team as a Beater. We also had many classes together, so we begun meeting up in the library to complete our homework.
Needless to say, my first encounter with her was something I'd never forget.
