The Great Hall was blissfully quiet.

The majority of Slytherin and Ravenclaw had gone home for the holidays, leaving the rest of us spread sparsely across the four tables.

Me, Marlene, Mary, Dorcas and Tonks (Alice had gone home for the holidays) sat quietly eating breakfast. At eight in the morning, none of us were awake enough to continue educated conversations. Every now and again, Tonks would mutter "So the weather, am I right?" To which Dorcas replied "Such atmosphere."

But, then, the Marauders arrived.

James kicked the door open dramatically. He was dressed completely in a Santa Claus outfit, with the white beard, red hat and suit.

On his left, Peter sat on Sirius's back. Sirius had been decorated in tinsel, with glittery baubles hanging from his ears. Behind him, Peter was rocking a green Christmas jumper that had a snowman on the front.

To his right, Y/n had been hauled onto Remus's shoulders, towering above the rest of the gang. She wore a full elf costume - a green and red dress, the hat and the pointy shoes, all decorated in bells. Remus was wearing his usual jumper and jeans, only with reindeer antlers and a red ball on the end of his nose.

And then they started to sing.

"ARE YOU HANGING UP THE STOCKINGS ON THE WALL?" All five of them yelled as they stood at the door.

"You've got to be kidding me," Marlene muttered.

"IT'S THE TIME WHEN EVERY SANTA HAS A BALL!"

The five of them began stomping into the room, Peter and Y/n's voices wobbling as they were carried into the room.

"DOES HE RIDE A RED-NOSED REINDEER? DOES A TON-UP ON HIS SLEIGH?"

I rolled my eyes, and caught Professor McGonagall snickering with Professor Crowley behind their hands.

"DO THE FAIRIES KEEP HIM SOBER FOR A DAY?"

All of them gulped in a deep breath, before James leaped onto the table and they all began to yell.

"SO HERE IT IS MERRY CHRISTMAS! EVERYBODY'S HAVING FUN!"

They continued walking down to us, James stepping over the food and Sirius fighting to keep Peter upright.

"LOOK TO THE FUTURE NOW IT'S ONLY JUST BEGU-U-UN!"

The five of them quieted down as they stood around us.

"Merry Christmas Hogwarts!" Potter yelled, like a rockstar on a stage.

"Are you finished?" I deadpanned, looking up at him.

He winked and blew me a kiss before hopping down onto the bench beside me.

On the other side, Remus leaned down to set Y/n down on the bench before sitting beside her.

The two of them had revealed nothing about their conversation so far. As it turned out, Remus had been under the influence of Veritaserum, which made me SURE that something had happened between them. Especially since, over the last few days, they had been closer than ever.
