Chapter Twenty-Three

Summer break

Katherine POV

"I don't know if I can do it," I say, looking at Lando on the jet ski.

"Do you trust me?"

"I do,"

"Then take my hand and get on," he holds his hand out. I take it, and he helps me wrap both of my arms around him

"Hold on tight," I do as he says as he starts it up. "Don't worry, I've got you,"

"Okay, go," he laughs as he starts water, hitting us both as he drives. I look at him and then around, feeling alright about the water, and I lift my arms in the air.

"That's my girl," he shouts, "woooo."

"Woooo," I copy. He stops in the middle of the water. "What are you doing,"

"It's your turn," I shake my head.

"Being on the back is enough. I can't drive it,"

"Come on," he says, giving me puppy dog eyes.

"You're cruel," he smiles as he helps me switch places.

"I'll guide you through it," he leans forwards putting his hands on mine and starting the jet back up.

"You two make me sick," Max shouts from the boat as we get back, "but I do love you together,"

"Thank you, mate," Lando says, getting on the boat and then helping me.

"Baby, what did you do,"

"She crashed into me,'Max says over the headset.

"Nothing, just an inchident," I say

"Give me a break, will you," Charles says.

"I crashed," Arthur speaks.

"Nothing new then,"

"Lando, I swear I will crash into you,'

"I'd listen him and Katherine were talking about hin crashing into you on track," Landos head shoots towards me after Charles speaks.

"You were planning on crashing into me?'

"Yes," I say. "Arthur was going to do it,"

"And I still will,"

"What? Why?"

"It was after the whole Gabrielle thing," he nods.

"Fair enough,"

"Guys my screen is fucked it keeps glitching me in and out of the wall," Max says "I swear to fuck I'm going to smash this thing,"

"Your such a angry man"

"Why are you guys sat in a circle like a cult," I ask as me and Harper walk into Maxs.

"We're playing. Would you rather," Ollie says. I take a seat on the floor next to them all.

"Okay, since you've joined, would you rather find true love or win the lottery?" Oscar asks everyone, looks at Lando, and smiles.

I look at him, and he looks back. "Win the lottery," I smirk.

"That's it. I'm single," I laugh at Lando.

"Charles, your turn," Kika says

"Okay, hit me," I slap his arm, "not literally."

"I know I just felt like it,"

"Would you rather drive for your dream team, but the car is shit or drive for another team with the best car?" I laugh

"He already does that in real life,'

"Why is she so mean today?"

"She's like this all the time. I don't know why people say she's the golden girl," Lando speaks.

"I don't want to play anymore,'Charles says.

"You're no fun,"

"Hello?" I ask answering the phone.

"Hello, Katherine, this is Toto. Your father passed over your number," I shake my head.

"What can I do for you?" I say, getting up from the group and walking to the balcony.

"I'd like to have the same discussion we had in 2022,"

"I'm a Red Bull driver,"

"I would like to change that,"

"As much as I'm flattered, Red Bull is my team. I'm not looking to move,"

"Not even with the deal we are willing to give to you,"

"No amount of money would make me want to move," I get a text message.

"Have you received the number," I look down fuck that's a lot of money.

"Again, I'm flattered, but I have to decline,"

"Please keep it in mind,"

"Goodbye, Mr Wolff,' I sigh, opening the door and then walking back in.

"What was thst about?" Lando asks.

"I'll tell you later," I look at Max "Max can we talk," he nods, and I lead him into the kitchen. "Mercedes want to sign me,'

"I don't know if you've brought me in here to say you've accepted or declined but I'm starting to worry," I show him the message "fuck me," he looks at me "they have this much money?"

"Apparently,"

"Have you accepted?"

"No, Red Bull is my team and the only team I want to drive with until they get rid of me," he wraps his arm around me, hugging me from the side.

"They won't get rid of you, so you called me in to tell me that you didn't accept,"

"Pretty much, I knew that if this got out, there would be so much speculation. I just wanted to make sure you knew that I wasn't even considering it,"

"You're a red bull girl now. There's no chance you'll change,"

"I'm going to speak to Christian about it. I don't want him hearing this from someone else,"

"Did your dad set it up?"

"Yeah, apparently, they've been talking. That's where Toto got my number,"

"I think you should also speak to Christian about that,"

"You think?"

"He'll try to sort your dad out, plus I kinda want to see Horner and Button but heads again,"

"I'll speak to him"
