Chapter Thirty-Six

Winter Break

Lando POV

I rush into the restaurant, my eyes frantically looking over the tables to find Christian and Max. I finally spot them and make my way over Christian, looking up at me, confused.

"Lando," he says. "What are you doing here," I take a seat.

"I asked Max to set this up," he turns to Max, who just smiles, taking a sip of his wine.

"Did he now," I nod. "Okay Lando, what is it you need?" I crack my neck, then my knuckles I was more nervous for this interaction than I was for Jenson.

"I met with Jenson earlier," he frowns

"Why would you do that?"

"Because I want to ask Katherine to marry me," his eyes widen, "and I need her fathers blessing," he nods

"I don't see why this involves me,"

"Jenson may be her biological father, but you also hold that name," he smiles sligh dipping his head. "So I am here today to ask you for your blessing,"

"In marrying Katherine," I nodded. I was sweating.

"Yes," I look over to him and smile.

"Oh, thank god," i let out a breath of air I didn't know I was holding back. "i also wanted to speak about something else," Max looks at me.

"If you're trying to steal my seat, I swear to god," Max jokes. I laugh slightly.

"This part of the conversation you might not like that much Christian," they both frown. "You and Jenson need to put the past in the past,"

"I'm sorry?"

"Say that to him, not me," Max shakes his head. "I had this talk with him as well as you, and I'm only thinking in the best interest of Kat," he stared at me.

"Lando,'I shake my head.

"Please just let me talk."

"Go ahead," he bites his tongue.

"You two don't get along. I get it, but I need you both to get along for Katherine she needs her father and you. I told him to step up by the father he used to be. She has just lost her mother she needs everyone she can around her,"

"You want me to be civil with Jenson for Katherine's sake?'

"I do, and I know you'll do what's best for her because, like me, you love her too,"

"I can't promise you anything, but I will try,"

"Well, that sorted shall we eat?" Max asks, calling the waiter over to take our order.

"You're good for her," Christian says to me. "I can see that I can see how happy you make her, so don't mess it up," I shake my head.

"Wouldn't dream of it,"

I had the blessing from everyone who mattered. I was going to ask the woman of my dreams to marry me.

Present time

"You did all of that for me?'she asks as I hold her close to me.

"I'd do anything for you," she laughs. I wipe her tears "your all that matters to me, Kat. I don't know how else to prove it,"

"You've done more than enough to prove it," I take her hand in mine ring on her finger.

"Shall we go tell your family the good news,'she says. I shake my head.

"Our family, you're going to be a norris after all," she smiles, and we walk back down to the house.

"Where did you two go off, too?" My mother asks as soon as we enter the living room.

I lift her hand up, showing them the ring my sisters scream.

"Oh my," my mother says, standing up hugging Kat, then my kissing my cheek. "You finally found the one,"

"I did,"

"Welcome to the family," my dad says, hugging Kat.

"Do you think they'll kill us for keeping it for so long?" I ask she shakes her head.

"I think they'll be happy with the news to even realise its been a week," we were on our way to the New Year's Eve party Max was throwing.

"I think the only one who might have something to say would be Max," she laughs.

"I mean, you did tell him about proposing,"

"I never said when I just needed his help he's going to kill me,"

"He won't kill you, not yet anyway he has a wedding to plan," 

"He's planning the wedding?"

"Yes," I laugh. "Me and Max have been friends for ages even before I became his teammate. We've gone over the whole wedding planning,"

"What about Harper?"

"I think she might kill us for not telling her, but on the wedding planning side, she knows it's down to Max."

"You ready Mrs Norris to be?" I ask before heading inside.

"I'm ready, Mr Norris,"

"Don't say that turns me on,"

"I might have to say it more often then," I wrap my arms around her shoulders and walk in to the house ready to tell everyone the news.
