First big difference between Charles Perrault's version and Disney movie we get told right off the bat that the children have no say against their Stepmother so even if they were to complain to their father about her including Ella she would mostly have been punished. (This is not surprising given the French today still honor their politeness. If you are rude in France chances are you may get kicked out of certain places. It's the way the French culture happens to still roll with this even today.)
Second difference the stepsisters are much nicer to Cinderella in Charles Perrault's story as we get a hint Cinderella has a taste for becoming fashion of the time and is always asked for her strong opinions.
Third difference, the animal friends don't exist in Charles Perrault's story.
Fourth differences Cinderella forgives her stepsisters finds them partners in her court and all three of them live together in the palace.
Fifth difference the stepmother is not sneaky about her true nature towards her stepdaughter.
Sixth differences mainly the real fairy godmother is a fairy in Charles Perrault's story and the way the carriages and ordinary animals are also transformed between the two tales.
Disney Differences
Then stepsisters are worse but Disney has slowly been mending that and getting closer to Charles Perrault's actually story of their Cinderella now almost has all its gaps completely filled.
What isn't different then?
Between these two versions the reaction of the Prince to Cinderella does not change.
Both versions of the story tell us he's happy and overjoyed to be with her.
They also both tell us the kingdom was very happy with their new Queen too.
In both Stories the Prince is the one to make the move at the balls not Cinderella he asks her in both versions to dance with him and Cinderella never gives indication that she knows he's the Prince of the Kingdom because she doesn't know he is.
According to Disney France Disney Cinderella's Prince's name is Henri which again makes sense. The German version will come up later and you will see how drastically different it is from these two, Skylights.
