Worst rated story Ashenputtle at 2 stars by the brothers Grimm.
Cinderella Disney 1950 cartoon movie at 4 stars
Cinderella by Charles Perrault 5 stars.
Thankfully thanks to Ashlynn Ella in Ever After High we know her story is a modernized version of Charles Perrault's Cinderella as they do have a shop called The Glass Slipper and Ashlyn Ella does put on glass boots at one point in the show. This is the only Cinderella story that can possibly crossover over into Disney's Cinderella story because both stepsisters are not shown to be super duper mean as well which easily connects to Charles Perrault's story of the stepsisters.Worst to Best Ranked characters in the brothers' Grimm Ashenputtle tale.
The stepmother and father of Ashenputtle are only 1 star.
The stepsisters are at 3 stars.
The prince at 3 stars like in the other version again he's the one who makes the advance towards the girl. It is never indicated again whether Ashenputtle knew who he was, but she didn't have free will to dance with anyone but him because he won't let her dance with anybody else. He loses points for being clingy and super super duper dumb.
The men are unbelievably unwise in this story and foolish, if you want to check to see if someone's in a dovecote just knock on its wooden door and the sound will tell you truth if anyone's hiding there rather than breaking into it and accidentally killing something with an axe and mining pick. Shake the lower branches of a pear tree if you think something climbs it if they feel the vibrations you're making you'll know they'll be a scurry of pattering feet away from you not or our only solution chop down this beautiful tree that was so young that fall could have easily broke the young girl's back and what if the tree trunk landed on her body and crushed her so she actually died if she had not be so quick a climber then there would be no happy story ending for the Prince anyways.
Ashenputtle herself is at 4 stars for obeying her deceased birthmother's last wishes and in that way she honored her mom who passed away.
The best character is the woman the original mom of Ashenputtle at 5 stars who gives her only daughter the wisest instructions she could ever be given from a Godly mother. Ashenputtle's mother was a believer in God.NUMBER ONE MISCONCEPTION OF THE BROTHERS' Grimm about God in this book. GOD DOESN'T FORCE ANYONE TO BE GOOD! Even with Adam and Eve this is the very case by the time they have their children he has already forgiven them. When Cain makes his mistake he is the first to beg forgiveness and it is given. Even though Nosh was already a believer but that doesn't mean his children or wife ever were during the time of the Flood. We know the sons of Noah were not Godly and yet God still forgave them too.
The same sentiment occurs in later in Egypt when Abraham lies to protect his wife and himself from the hostility of the Egyptians during that particular time period, given his background, Abraham probably did still have some doubts he did grow up as a non believer after all. But even though God knew he had some distrust he still forgave them and protected Sara from the Egyptians. Even Esau was not forced to be good by God the son of Issac and Rebekah. This sentiment is riddled through the Old Testament with Joseph and Moses and probably the most significant instance of all stories the interactions with Moses and the Pharaoh, God knew Pharaoh wasn't going to listen his heart was far too gone we're told that but still there was not much force with the rest of the Egyptians. And Moses before he got chosen to take on his mission he was had committed murder by accident, but it was still murder and God forgive him for that sin.
The best examples of his strong patience and forgiveness are in Job and Jonah books of the Bible. Job was steadfast in his faith yet his wife was not in fact it practically implies she may not have been a believer at all. Yet she is constantly against the Lord trying to get her husband to his sin. Even Job's friends were not not the wisest of friends either but God forgave Job's friends. No, it's not missing I thought it was. But I found it, the thing about his wife being ungodly, Job's wife Job Chapter 2. Past this point it is a poetic argument book, and Job doesn't mean anything too literally of what he says like Psalms is a bunch of Poetry.
This rings true with the New Testament Jesus with the majority Pharisees (except one Nicodemus was already listening and believing even though he couldn't understand much of what was said) and Sadducees were never forced to believe in or believe Jesus's words. Even with Disciples the Disciples came willingly to follow him of their own accord there was no forcefulness.
The main point is God will not force people to be good. Jesus's influence when he was on Earth is true proof of that as God's Son born into flesh.
Unusually old words used as insults in this tale- sloven: means messy and careless. Drudge means: a person who does menial, distasteful, dull or hard work.
