Hurry, Hurry, Little Sloth
Author AnonymousLittle Sloth walked to school,
And just as she got to the gate,
Giraffe said, "Hurry, hurry, Little Sloth! You're going to be late!"
When playing blocks in the corner,
Sloth liked to take her time.
Monkey said, "Hurry, hurry, Little Sloth! It's time to go outside and climb!"
"Hurry, hurry, Little Sloth!" said Mouse. "It's Time to get down from these trees."
But Little Sloth hung there for a while to catch a refreshing breeze.
"Hurry, hurry, Little Sloth!" said Hippo. "Gobble lunch up fast! If you don't, by the time you are done, play time will have passed."
Sloth enjoyed each yummy bite. It looked like Sloth was hardly awake! But her friends ate their lunches so quickly, that they all got a tummy ache.
"Hurry, hurry, Little Sloth!" said Fox. "You've hardly moved a toe. It's difficult to play hide-and-seek, when you're moving oh, so slow."
"But look at that rainbow," said Little Sloth. "It covers half the sky.
If I was going too quickly, I would have surely passed it by."
The friends all gathered around Little Sloth and looked up in delighr.
Their oohs and ahs were proof that nobody missed that amazing sight.
After school, Little Sloth asked her mommy, "Is it ok to go at my own pace?"
Mommy hugged her and said, "We miss out on wonderful things, if every moment is a race."Little Sloth smiled and thought, "I know my Mommy isn't wrong, because the very best part about moving slowly is that sloth hugs last so long!"
