Three Months after the Discussion
It had been nearly three months since the two families had discussed the details of the situation. The families had returned to Bangkok and had met up again the next weekend, for dinner this time, at a high-end restaurant. It was important for everyone to feel comfortable with each other after all and such get-togethers would be helpful. Thereon, Phana would usually make time to go meet Wayo at his home, with both or one of the parents present. Kit and Beam would also accompany him whenever they were free. Once, both of Phana's parents also stayed with him during his scheduled meet-up.
On the whole, the two soulmates were spending around 4-5 hours together a week and bond seemed to be satisfied, at least as far as Dr Bright could see. All the 10 adults and Wayo had also met up once to spend a day at Kongthanins around two months in. This had given Dr Bright a chance to observe Phana and Wayo so he could determine how the bond was developing. At the end of the day, he had told everyone that Phana and Wayo and everyone involved were doing a good job in maintaining the stability and that the bond felt to be calming down.
As the two soulmates spent time together, there was marked improvement among both boys. While Phana was already a confident man, he had mellowed down and seemed to be more respectful and sympathetic. His friends noted that he was no longer dismissive of his peers and when someone was genuinely struggling, may it be in studies or anything else, he was more open to listening. However, since Phana was never outwardly arrogant or harsh, these changes were subtle and only noticed by his dearest friends. Sometimes Kit would tease friend saying interacting with Wayo was making him a better person.
Wayo, on the other hand, was changing leaps and bound. The once quiet and shy child, now actively started participating in his class discussions. The parents noted how Phana and Wayo would talk about the younger's school and subjects, especially related to science. Wayo's change in attitude and his desire to learn more eagerly had definitely improved his academic performance. The almost 8-year-old was always an above-average student academically, but now he also participated several educational clubs and sports activities. Maybe it was the soul-bond, maybe it was just that Wayo was growing up, whatever it was, though, the Suthilucks were happy and really proud of their baby boy.
Today, Phana, Kit and Beam were at the cafeteria hanging out after the morning classes, discussing some of the topics of their chemistry class. They had some practical tests next week and needed to study as much as they could. However, Phana was restless and hardly helping out the other two. Beam and Kit just looked at each other and sighed audibly. They knew their brilliant friend would not be able to help them until he had his time with Wayo, who per the conversation in the group chat, was on his way for lunch.
Arthit and Kongpob had over the months realized that Phana was indeed a medical student, at the top of his class, and actually had a lot to do. So when they had realized that the college students had their practicals next week, Kongpob had offered to bring Wayo for lunch at the university or somewhere nearby. Both the Suthilucks had acknowledged that this was a two-way street and that Phana should be more open when he was strapped for time.
Kit slapped Phana's arm who was just fidgeting continuously, "Hey Pha! They'll be here soon. Come on, don't be obvious!" Beam nodded along.
Phana looked at his two friends, and took in a deep breath. He shook his head, as if to come back to the present moment and took his seat. He grabbed the book Kit and Beam were studying from and began, "Okay, so this problem here.." Within a few seconds Phana was engrossed in the material and the two friends sighed in relief.
Around twenty minutes later Kit closed the book and whined, "Im so hungry! Studying always.."
"Oh Phana...You are here. I was looking all over for you.." Kit and Beam groaned. The annoying whiny sound could only be from one person. The girl did not get the signal, or got it but still ignored it. It had been like this since the first year of the med school. At first she didn't seem so bad but the more Phana rejected her advances, more forward she had become.
