"Greetings, I am L," L stated with a monotone voice, rubbing the back of his neck absently.

The group stared at the young man who was currently was currently giving them all a bored expression.

"This is him?" Soichiro mumbled, his tone showing how surprised he was.

"He's nothing like I thought he'd be," Matsuda admitted as he bounced into the room, his entire aura screaming how cheerful he was.

For a moment, Soichiro considered whether he could believe that this man was truly L before he eventually just decided to go along with it.

"I'm Yagami NPA," Soichi introduced as he pulled out his ID and badge, showing it to L.

"Matsuda," Matsuda chirped, doing the same as the Chief.

There slowly but surely, each officer gave their names, Aizawa, Mogi, and Ukita.

"I apologize for being so late, currently, the five of us-" Soichi began only for L to interrupt them by raising his hand and pointing at them.

"Bang," L stated simply, gaining the irritation from Aizawa.

"What the hell was that?!" Aizawa snapped at the detective who just turned and gave the man a bored yet somehow serious look.

"If I had been Kira, you'd be dead, Soichiro Yagami, Chief of the NPA," L stated firmly, a frown on his face as he took in the surprised looks of the officers in front of him." Kira needs a face and a name to commit murder, but I'm sure you've already figured that much out, haven't you? Please, do not give out your name so carelessly, instead, let's value our lives."

He stared at the group for a moment, his eyes wide like that of an owl.

"I knew he needed a face to kill someone, but I don't remember any evidence to show he needed a name as well," Matsuda admitted, his tone conveying how nervous he was about that new information.

Soichiro's eyes widened.

"There is no way to verify if this is related, but criminals whose names were never released publicly or whose names were spelled incorrectly in the media, have not been targetted." Soichiro breathed sharply, realization flickering in his eyes." We briefly went over it once, during a meeting."

L huffed, slightly annoyed.

"That's enough small talk for now." L ordered, turning and walking into another room adjacent to the current hallway." Come this way."

The group followed the detective into a decent-sized room. Inside were several chairs, a couch, and a coffee table. L sat at the one that looked out over the others, gesturing for them to all sit-down, which the group complied with.

"I must ask you to turn off all of your cellphones, handhelds, and any other communication devices."  L stated as he gestured to the table." Please leave them there and Watari will move them to another room."

"What do you think that we'll do, leak information?" Aizawa mumbled under his breath, but Soichiro raised a hand, silencing the man from complaining any further.

"It's alright, Aizawa, just do as he says," Soichiro ordered and Aizawa grumbled as he placed his phone down on the table, the others doing the same.

Watari walked over, took the phones, and placed them in a basket which he took into another room.
